The Business Development Consultant role will join our sales team for Morningstar Investment Management, Inc. (MIM), a registered investment advisor and wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. You will work with your Divisional Sales Director to increase advisory business within your assigned territory by building relationships with your advisors. This position is based in our Chicago office with a required four days a week in office.

- Identify and develop relationships with new advisors within an assigned territory.
- Work alongside current advisor base within assigned territory to help them grow their book of business while growing wallet share.
- Use the Salesforce CRM to document prospecting efforts, relationship management, and track pipeline management.
- Influence, persuade, and educate advisors on the key benefits of various investment offerings and assist advisors in case design for their specific client circumstances.
- Be conversant in all aspects of our managed portfolios program.
- Exhibit strong presentation skills via virtual meetings, phone, and written communication.
- Assist Divisional Sales Director in scheduling meetings with advisors while also being able to run virtual meetings independently.
- Interact with the Portfolio Specialist and Investment Management team as needed.
The Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of two years related industry experience.
- Demonstrated ability to develop sales relationships with financial advisors over the phone and virtual meetings.
- Strong interest in and the ability to explain portfolio management concepts.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
- The ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively.
- SIE or ability to obtain within 3 months of employment.
- Series 65/Series 66 or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
