Summary:
The GainsKeeper Business Analyst plays a critical role in defining product requirements, supporting operational analysis, and contributing to continuous process improvement across the GainsKeeper Suite of Products, including GainsKeeper Brokerage, FundTax, and the Corporate Action Suite. This role combines in‑depth subject‑matter expertise in cost basis and tax‑lot accounting with foundational business analysis skills to support product development, regulatory compliance, operational effectiveness, and cross‑functional collaboration. The analyst works under the guidance of senior team members while independently planning and prioritizing daily work to meet quality and timeline expectations.
Responsibilities
Product Development & Requirements
- Develop clear and accurate functional specifications, requirements, and detailed use cases for new product features.
- Partner with Technical Product Managers to ensure requirements are complete, consistent, and aligned with product strategy.
- Work closely with tax subject‑matter experts to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into product specifications.
- Collaborate with development teams throughout design and implementation, answering questions and clarifying requirements.
- Support the quality assurance team by reviewing test cases and coordinating validation of new features and defect resolutions.
Operational & Data Analysis
- Conduct regression analysis comparing current and historical system results; identify trends, breaks, and root causes.
- Perform preliminary data collection, analysis, and operational effectiveness assessments.
- Track and maintain current operational and project information to support reporting and decision‑making.
Process Improvement & Documentation
- Contribute to end‑to‑end process analyses and process mapping exercises; identify areas for efficiency or quality gains.
- Assist documentation teams by drafting text and examples for Release Notes and user‑facing materials.
- Support implementation and customer support teams by providing subject‑matter expertise during deployments and escalations.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Engage with clients to gather product feedback and understand emerging needs.
- Prepare and present basic findings, analyses, and recommendations to senior team members.
- Coordinate routine special projects and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
Skills Required
- Strong analytical and data‑driven problem‑solving skills.
- Knowledge of financial instruments (e.g., equities, fixed income, options, mutual funds).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; advanced functions and macro development preferred.
- Experience analyzing large data sets and performing regression analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with ability to collaborate across functions.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment with competing priorities.
- Preferred: SQL or database query experience for advanced data analysis.
- Preferred: Working knowledge of cost basis, tax‑lot accounting, and IRS cost basis reporting regulations.
Experience Required
- 5+ years of Financial Services industry experience preferred.
- 3+ years working with GainsKeeper or a similar cost basis system preferred.
- 1+ year of product development or business analysis experience writing requirements.
- Demonstrated success delivering high‑quality work for complex software solutions in rapidly changing environments.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Accounting, Finance, or Business Management.

Compensation:
$57,100.00 - $97,500.00 USDCompensation range listed is based on primary location of the position. Actual base salary offer is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skills, experience and actual hiring location.
