Description of Work

The primary purpose of this position is to provide budgetary guidance and consultation to assigned divisions and senior management. Position interprets legislation and budgetary policy, formulates continuation and expansion budgets, reviews and approves budget revision requests, provides analysis for management and division staff, Fiscal Research and Office of State Budget and Management. Responds to above entities for request for information.
Other Key Responsibilities:
Ensure all assigned budgets are properly certified and revised.
Interpret, analyze and report on-going budget operations and make recommendations to the Budget Manager and Chief Financial Officer.
Assist with the preparation of the continuation budgets and the review of the expansion budgets.
Contract review and decision.
Review and analyze the utilization of federal revenues.

Recruiting Range: $57,983.00 - $74,365.00

Management Preferences:

  • Experience utilizing a State, Federal and/or Local Government budget/fund system.
  • Experience monitoring, approving, and/or certifying state, local and/or federal budgets.

This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workdays. The NC Department of Environmental Quality trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, or related field, from an accredited institution and four years of experience preferably including experience in accounting or budgeting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
