Aerospike is the real-time database for mission-critical use cases and workloads, including machine learning, generative, and agentic AI. Aerospike powers millions of transactions per second with millisecond latency, at a fraction of the total cost of ownership compared to other databases.

Global leaders, including Adobe, Airtel, Barclays, Criteo, DBS Bank, Experian, Grab, HDFC Bank, PayPal, Sony Interactive Entertainment, The Trade Desk, and Wayfair, rely on Aerospike for customer 360, fraud detection, real-time bidding, profile stores, recommendation engines, and other use cases.

At Aerospike, we dream big and deliver even bigger. Our mission is to unleash the power of the world’s real-time data with a database built for infinite scale, speed, and sustainability.

If you're ready to shape the future of data, join us.

You’ll build the backend services and developer-facing SDKs that power Aerospike’s growth platform — from telemetry ingestion and licensing enforcement to entitlement APIs and developer tooling. This role sits at the heart of Aerospike’s infrastructure, ensuring that product usage, licensing, and adoption signals flow reliably across self-managed and cloud deployments.

Responsibilities
  • Build scalable telemetry ingestion pipelines (API-first, Pub/Sub/Kafka optional, warehouse targets like BigQuery or Snowflake).
  • Design and maintain licensing services for usage metering, entitlement APIs, high-watermark billing logic, and token/UUID validation.
  • Develop and maintain developer-facing SDKs (Go, Java, Python, Node) and CLI tools for telemetry, feature flags, and license validation.
  • Define schemas, thresholds, and event models aligned with licensing enforcement and adoption signals.
  • Collaborate with PMs, RevOps, and CS on system health metrics, billing workflows, and customer-facing usage reporting.
  • Ensure SDKs integrate with CDPs (Segment, RudderStack, Posthog) and internal telemetry pipelines (BigQuery, Snowflake, dbt).
  • Maintain schema compatibility and versioning across services and SDKs.
  • Support production services in a 24x7 on-call rotation, driving reliability and incident response.
  • Build with scalability, maintainability, reliability, and security as core principles.
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of backend or SDK engineering experience (Go preferred; Java/Python also fine).
  • Strong background in distributed systems, event-driven pipelines, or observability services.
  • Experience building developer-facing SDKs, CLIs, or platform APIs.
  • Familiarity with data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift) and ETL/CDC patterns.
  • Experience supporting production systems in a high-availability environment.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, PagerDuty.
  • Preferred: Background in hybrid SaaS/on-premises deployments and developer experience tooling.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
