Job Description

RCH Solutions is seeking a Cloud Engineer with strong experience supporting and migrating Scientific applications to the AWS Cloud environment in the fast-moving realm of Life Sciences. The right candidate will also be a member of the operational support team for Scientific and Technical Compute customers working with a top 10 Life Sciences Organization. You will function as an engineer focused on Containerized and Cloud-native technologies for application migrations. Our ideal candidate is an experienced and talented Cloud Engineer who will be instrumental in transforming how IT computing services are leveraged to support our client's growth. This role will involve driving architecture, roadmaps, and execution of projects to establish and operate Cloud IT infrastructure best practices for customers and RCH applications teams. The Cloud landscape is continuously evolving, with new tools and services being released daily. You know how to distinguish hype from reality and are comfortable making recommendations that best suit our clients’ needs.

Responsibilities

  • Support for AWS Cloud Application migrations and modernization
  • CloudOps / IaC for on-going platform management
  • Setup and configuration of AWS Cloud infrastructure for new platform builds
  • Ensure system compliance with company security standards and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Transition support for modernized services to operational teams
  • Provide engineering level troubleshooting and services restoration for operational issues as they arise on supported platforms, as needed

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • 4+ years of professional experience in Solution Architecture or Cloud Infrastructure Deployment
  • Experience migrating and deploying AWS applications including but not limited to: EC2, RDS, S3, ECS/EKS, Glue, EMR and Athena
  • Experience deploying and managing containerized environments
  • Experience using with scripting tools, automation tools, and configuration management tools (Ansible is preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills, including preparation of written documentation for IT colleagues and end users
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • Candidates must not require sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in Life Sciences realm
  • Proficiency with building Docker images and related application re-hosting skills
  • Python, R, or other related data science programming language
