JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
- Drives implementation of strategic and operational objectives with significant impact on the short and long-term success of Risk Control in Canada by collaborating with key stakeholders as needed.
- Partners with senior management, Underwriting and other internal departments to develop and monitor the implementation of strategic objectives and projects for the Risk Control function.
- Maintains strong relationships with internal and external business partners to create a collaborative environment promote products and services and pursue market opportunities.
- Leads, directs and has full management accountability for staff in Canada with an emphasis on talent management and succession planning in accordance with corporate strategic direction.
- Develops and delivers Risk Control training, educational materials, and seminars for existing staff and or clients.
- Identifies scope of Risk Control services, products and marketing initiatives to align with the underwriting strategy for product line or segments available in Canada. Includes providing overall direction and support for the development of identified services, products and marketing activities.
- Directs development, implementation and continuous review of Risk Control quality improvement programs.
- Represent the company through speaking engagements, faculty appointments, industry conferences and authored materials.
- Develops distinctive and winning strategies and drives continuous improvement in both internal operational efficiencies and external client services to optimize resource utilization and deliver a positive impact on corporate results.
- Advises region, customer segment, distribution staff, and product line management of emerging Risk Control property casualty and equipment breakdown issues.
May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- In-depth technical knowledge of theories and practices of insurance risk control and working knowledge in related field of property and casualty.
- Advanced communication skills which are critical to building consensus across area of influence external and/or internal business partners within scope of responsibility, team and/or matrix environment.
- Strong leadership and management skills, demonstrating integrity and professionalism.
- Strong sales and marketing skills.
- Ability to drive results by identifying, and resolving significant problems within scope of responsibility.
- Ability to mentor and coach others for high performance.
- In-depth knowledge of the insurance industry, its products and services.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in safety, health, engineering or related discipline or equivalent.
- 10 years related field risk control experience, with 5 years of management experience.
- Applicable certifications preferred.
- Experience in property/casualty and equipment breakdown in the manufacturing, power generation and mining industries
