Job Description

Are you a visionary leader who thrives at the intersection of strategy, operations, and execution? As the AVP, Marketing Operations at Humana, you’ll lead a high-performing team responsible for delivering personalized, timely, and compliant communications across digital and print channels. You’ll ensure every message we send supports our mission to put health first—helping members feel informed, empowered, and cared for.

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape how Humana communicates with millions of members—driving operational excellence, innovation, and impact at scale.

Role Responsibilities

As a senior leader in Marketing Technology and Operations, you will oversee the execution of enterprise-wide communications that support member engagement, regulatory compliance, and business growth across Medicare, Medicaid, and healthcare services such as Pharmacy and CenterWell.

Organizational Leadership & Transformation
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team structured into Marketing Communications, Regulated Communications, Operational Communications, and Shared Services (QA/QC, Translation, Fulfillment).
  • Guide the evolution of the team from production-focused campaign builders to strategic product owners embedded in agile pods.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous learning—ensuring the team is equipped to shape communication strategy, not just execute it.
  • Coach team members to act as thought partners across cross-functional teams, influencing how operational and regulatory communications are scoped, prioritized, and delivered.
Strategy, Execution & Compliance
  • Oversee prioritization, production, and delivery of communications across all segments and channels.
  • Ensure all materials meet HIPAA, CMS, ADA, and Medicaid requirements, including alternate formats and multilingual support.
  • Champion lifecycle marketing approaches that deliver meaningful, actionable communications at every stage of the member journey.
  • Implement standardized templates and reusable components to improve speed, flexibility, and cost efficiency.
AI-Enabled Operations
  • Champion the integration of AI/ML across marketing operations—embedding intelligent automation, predictive insights, and machine learning into how work is executed, monitored, and optimized.
  • Use AI to enhance campaign setup, personalization, and quality control, enabling faster delivery and greater precision.
  • Establish AI as a core skill set across the team, driving a shift toward data-driven decision-making and scalable, intelligent processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Technology Enablement
  • Partner with Product, Compliance, IT, CLM, and Marketing teams to ensure communications are clear, consistent, and compliant.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and vendors to ensure contract alignment, partner performance, and cost efficiencies.
  • Utilize platforms such as Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO), Salesforce Marketing Cloud, SmartComms and OpenText to execute and optimize communications.
  • Implement Agile metrics and feedback mechanisms to assess communication quality and drive continuous improvement.

Your leadership will ensure Humana delivers the right message, to the right member, at the right time—enhancing trust, satisfaction, and health outcomes.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in marketing operations, communication execution, or regulated communications.
  • 8+ years of leadership experience managing large teams and complex workflows.
  • Proven success transforming teams and operating models to drive strategic impact.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as healthcare, insurance, or financial services.
  • Experience with enterprise communication platforms (e.g., Adobe Experience Cloud, Salesforce Marketing Cloud).
  • Strong strategic thinking, operational management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and vendor relationships to ensure performance, compliance, and cost efficiency.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Understanding of healthcare compliance standards including CMS, HIPAA, and ADA.
  • Background in lifecycle marketing, journey orchestration, and Next Best Action strategies.
  • Familiarity with agile product development and scaled agile frameworks.
  • Experience leading vendor relationships and managing technology investments.

Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


 

$203,400 - $279,800 per year


 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
