Lead and oversee US claims handling for miscellaneous professional, casualty, commercial property and facultative reinsurance lines. Manage technical adjusting, claims strategy, TPA relationships, large complex losses, and broker/client engagement. Collaborate with underwriting, drive data processes, prepare claims reporting, and participate in strategic initiatives to deliver service excellence and optimal indemnity outcomes.
This is a leading-edge, forward-thinking Claims handling role, responsible for management and oversight of claims handling activities relating to Convex US’ Miscellaneous Professional, Casualty, Commercial Property and Property Facultative Reinsurance claims. Furthermore, you’ll act as a key partner for our brokers and clients. This role is outcome-driven, and one which combines supervision of technical adjusting and direction of claims strategy, account management, commercial and relationship management skills – underpinned by experience in fast paced, technology enriched environments. You will report directly to the Head of Claims, US and will be a key part of the CUS team. The role requires a willingness to be flexible and learn new lines of business as they develop, a critical client service orientation and the ability to nurture and develop a service excellence culture. Key Responsibilities
- Deep knowledge of and expertise on any of the following claims: Miscellaneous Professional, Financial Lines, Casualty, Commercial Property and Property Facultative Reinsurance
- Ability to market to our broker partners and clients
- Understanding of third party administrators and experience managing same
- Responsible for developing process for accumulating claims data and actively managing claims to achieve the best indemnity outcomes
- Oversight, management and direction of the team on large and complex losses
- Collaborate closely with underwriting teams
- Review claims movements and be a trusted advisor to the business with regard to potential exposures
- Take responsibility for data gathering and sharing industry or event knowledge with relevant colleagues
- Contribute to the attraction and retention of business through service excellence
- Contribute to the preparation of local claims reports and claims updates to senior management as required
- Be prepared to participate in wider claims strategic initiatives
- Be an advocate for client service as a brand differentiator and demonstrate behaviour that align to the Convex core values
- Travel as needed
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- 5+ years claim handling experience
- Licensed attorney preferred
- Broad understanding of coverage issues
- Willingness to learn new lines of business as they develop
- A robust and articulate communicator; able to communicate effectively at all levels of seniority
- Excellent negotiation and diplomacy skills
- Evidence the ability to empathise and be understanding when dealing with people
- Demonstrate and role model a client service attitude
- A high degree of problem-solving capability
- Detail orientated with analytical mindset
- Work at speed given complex and difficult technical situations, with strong prioritisation skills
