We are seeking a talented individual to join our Analytics and Advisory team at Guy Carpenter. This role will be based in New York, NY, Edina, MN, Philadelphia, PA, Atlanta, GA, Morristown, NJ, Boston, MA or Chicago, IL. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
The Analytics and Advisory department within Guy Carpenter acts in support of clients and broking operations. The Catastrophe Risk Advisory unit is seeking an Assistant Vice President or Vice President, Catastrophe Risk Analyst, (with your level of experience determining your role (AVP or VP), to advise clients on reinsurance evaluation, decision-making, and placement while leveraging state-of-the-art tools and supporting internal initiatives.
We will count on you to:
• Manage catastrophe modeling projects from beginning to end.
• Contribute to impactful and insightful discussions with clients on their reinsurance strategy, underwriting support, pricing adequacy, and portfolio management; act as the catastrophe risk expert as part of our account teams.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with brokers/clients/reinsurers/colleagues and assist in promptly responding to client queries and concerns.
• Develop knowledge in certain region-based or peril-based areas of catastrophe risk management services through research or experience.
• Take part in or lead internal initiatives, offering ideas and feedback to improve outcomes as well as to help develop Guy Carpenter’s thought leadership and industry expertise.
What you need to have:
• 2 - 12 years of experience with various catastrophe models.
• Robust data management skills, including ability to manipulate, interpret, and extrapolate complex data; familiarity with data storage and manipulation tools such as Data Bricks, MS SQL, Python, R, etc.
• Superior communication and presentation skills, including an ability to translate complex technical analysis and concepts into easily understandable terms for brokers and clients.
• Fundamental knowledge of the reinsurance industry, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
