Our propulsion systems cannot function without sensors, actuators, controllers, and other electronic hardware functioning well together. As an Avionics Mechanical Engineer, you will work on designing the mechanical avionics components for Ursa’s rocket engines as well as for Ursa’s rocket engine test facility and numerous testing rigs.  These components include both mechanical enclosures and harnesses for avionics hardware for engines and support equipment.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and manage 3D harness routing models
  • Create harness drawings and write work instructions for their assembly
  • Design and develop enclosures for Avionics hardware
  • Track and troubleshoot technical issues with harnesses and enclosures
  • Develop and maintain processes and requirements for harnesses and enclosures
  • Generate information for own peer reviews and peer review other electromechanical designs

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience with vehicle electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of harness manufacturing techniques, component trades and testing
  • Knowledge of electrical enclosure and harness design for harsh thermal and dynamic environments.
  • Expertise in general 3D modeling and drawing creation
  • Experience with FEA software (Ansys preferred)
  • Experience performing vibration, shock and thermal analyses

Desired Experience:

  • Experience with wire harnessing design, fabrication, analysis and test.
  • Experience designing and analyzing electronic enclosures
  • Materials and process validation
  • Product and Bill of Materials (BOM) management
  • Experience with NX
  • Experience with Visio
  • Experience with Python scripting
  • Ability to read and generate electrical schematics
  • Experience analyzing electrical designs.

Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $115,000 - $130,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The salary range for this role is intentionally wide as we are evaluating individuals based on their unique experience and abilities to fit our needs. Most importantly, we are excited to meet you, and see if you are a great fit for our team.
