Overall Purpose of the Role

The Automated Stores Sales Manager is responsible for driving all aspects of automated storage system sales within an assigned territory. The initial territory will cover the U.S. Central Market.
 

This role owns the full sales lifecycle, from lead generation and opportunity development through order placement and handoff to operational teams, while collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders to achieve regional sales objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and execute new automated storage system sales, managing opportunities from prospecting through order placement and transition to operations.
  • Prospect, qualify, and develop new sales opportunities through customer meetings, presentations, requirements discovery, and proposal development (with support from U.S. and UK-based teams).
  • Develop and execute territory sales strategies to achieve revenue targets.
  • Lead negotiations and close complex, high-value deals.
  • Maintain accurate and timely sales pipeline reporting and CRM data.
  • Build and manage relationships with third-party partners to support regional sales objectives.
  • Provide market and customer feedback to support product development and corporate strategy.
  • Collaborate with marketing to generate cost-effective, territory-appropriate lead generation initiatives.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Partner closely with Azenta sales teams across other product lines, including Consumables, Instruments, Cryogenic Storage, Services, and Informatics.
  • Work cross-functionally with Technical Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Project Management, Engineering, Service, and Installation teams.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels, from individual contributors to executive leadership.
  • Develop and support joint sales initiatives with third-party organizations and strategic partners across the territory.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Highly motivated, goal-oriented, and results-driven with a proactive mindset.
  • Strong consultative selling approach, focused on understanding customer needs and delivering value-based solutions.
  • Self-starter capable of working remotely with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to lead cross-functional and external teams to achieve results.
  • Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ranging from informal discussions to formal presentations.
  • Proven negotiation and closing skills in complex B2B sales environments.
  • Ability to understand scientific and engineering concepts (formal science or engineering degree not required).
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Minimum 5 years of B2B sales experience involving high-value transactions (>$1M PO), preferably in laboratory or scientific equipment.
  • Established relationships within Drug Discovery and/or Biobanking markets preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Frequent in territory travel, likely ~50% of time on the road. Some travel out of territory (eg Boston Company HQ and Manchester, UK, Engineering and Manufacturing Centre of Excellence for automated stores).

United States Base Compensation: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00

The posted pay range for this position is an estimate based on current market data and internal pay structure. Final compensation may vary above or below this range depending on factors such as experience, education (including licensure and certifications),  qualifications, performance, and geographic location, among other relevant business or organizational needs.
