As an Associate Software Engineer, you will write code, develop applications, conduct code reviews, and collaborate with team members on technology projects.
Associate Software Engineer
Geode is actively seeking a highly motivated Associate Software Engineer to be a part of our technology team, which is responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and building infrastructure and applications that run our business. This includes building custom apps as well as creating integrations with third party vendor tools and platforms such as Charles River Development (CRD) IMS/OMS and Simcorp Dimension (SCD.) As an individual contributor, you will work on a cross-functional squad that is generally responsible for the custom applications and integrations for a specific business group, such as Portfolio Managers, Operations, Traders, Compliance, etc. Our technology consists of a combination of mature on-prem applications along with newer cloud-based infrastructure.
This is a hybrid work environment opportunity located in Boston, MA with a weekly in office schedule of Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and remote work availability on Mondays and Fridays.
Responsibilities:
- Write well-formed and easy-to-maintain code
- Write unit tests to ensure sufficient automated test coverage
- Perform code reviews of other engineers’ code
- Follow best practices and standards according to our engineering standards library
- Interact regularly with other members of your squad (including Squad Lead, Business Analyst, Quality Engineer, and other Software Engineers) as well as our internal Business Stakeholders
Skills You Bring:
- 4+ years of experience as a software engineer
- Experience in Java and/or Python or other widely adopted language.
- Exposure to writing frontend code using Vue.js or similar JavaScript-based framework
- Basic knowledge of cloud architecture (preferably AWS)
- Experience with Linux
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A positive and collaborative attitude
- Desire to hold yourself and others around you to a high standard of work
Nice to Haves:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Finance, or related field
- Experience writing SQL to retrieve and store data
- Exposure to financial services and/or asset management
- Familiarity with Charles River Development (CRD) IMS/OMS
- Familiarity with Snaplogic or other ETL/workflow tools
- Experience with cloud migrations from legacy architectures
