JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

What you will do:

• To support editorial content for all Astro AWANI English-language digital and social media platforms.
• Responsible for collecting and analyzing information about newsworthy events to write news stories for publication or broadcast.
• Receive assignments or evaluate news leads and news tips to develop story ideas.
• Organize material, determines slant or emphasis.
• Write stories according to prescribed editorial style and format standards.
• Ensure stories written are accurate, fair, clear and complete.
• Always meet deadlines. Work and cooperate well with the news editors and fellow reporters to generate good story ideas. May also take photographs or shoot videos to illustrate stories.
• May be involved in editing or assisting in editing, videos for broadcast and social media moderation.
• Should be able to generate ideas and write/re-write scripts.
• Oversee the quality and sensitivity of the visuals.
• Required to perform other technical and IT functions at certain times in a multi-tasking environment.
• Required to upload and stream edited materials onto our web and mobile sites.
• To ensure positive engagement for Astro AWANI for all platforms, including increasing Page View and Unique View for web.

REQUIREMENTS:

Who you are:

• Must have a Degree in any related field of studies.
• Fluent spoken and written skills in both English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Good scripting skills and writing flair.
• Good visual flair in presenting stories
• Willingness to learn on the job.
• Familiarity with technology and ability to pickup technical skills quickly.
• Good knowledge of latest TV and web broadcast technology.
• Meticulous and methodical as well as a good team player.
