Position Overview:

RTX’s Enterprise Data Services (ES-Data) group is seeking an Associate Director of User Experience Design to support RTX’s Data and AI strategy. This individual will work on the Product Design team at ES-Data, partnering with teams and business leaders across the RTX enterprise to drive user research and design strategy for ES-Data’s product portfolio as well high-impact business unit initiatives.

Design leaders who thrive within ES-Data are strategic, detail-oriented and multi-skilled. They work in complex domains that require deep collaboration with internal teams and subject matter experts across the enterprise. Our mission is to apply human-centered design expertise to the biggest data and AI opportunities, fusing ES-Data’s advanced capabilities with real user needs and tangible business value.

What You Will Do:

  • Define and evolve human-centered design practices across teams and portfolios, ensuring consistent, high-impact use of design thinking.
  • Design and lead high-impact, cross-functional workshops to align business leaders, technologists, product managers and subject matter experts around customer outcomes and product strategies that drive business impact.
  • Set and oversee user research strategy across multiple products and domains in aerospace, defense, operations and supply chain. Establish rigorous and impactful user research practices. Ensure insights inform product and business strategy.
  • Own and drive end-to-end user experience outcomes across a portfolio of enterprise products with hands-on involvement from discovery through user adoption and sustainment.
  • Communicate product vision, research insights and design strategy to executives and cross-functional leaders to drive alignment and action.
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with cross-functional leadership to ensure design excellence is embedded in product and technical decision-making.
  • Shape design standards, patterns and systems that enable scalable, high-quality product experiences across the enterprise.
  • Build, mentor and develop a high-performing design team. Fostering a culture of craft excellence, collaboration, career development and continuous learning.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years experience

  • 10+ years of experience in digital product design including experience operating at a leadership level across multiple teams, products or domains.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Advanced degree in HCI, human factors, or related field.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or other regulated industries.
  • Led design for data-intensive, analytics, or AI/ML products.
  • Led senior design teams in large, multi-business-unit enterprises.

  • This position is currently designated as remote. However, the successful candidate will be required to work from one of the 50 U.S. states (excluding U.S. Territories). Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).  An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed

The salary range for this role is 157,200 USD - 298,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
