THE ROLE: Associate Director Mission Impact Investing

Britebound is national nonprofit that is changing the way kids learn about careers and prepare for their futures through access to career-readiness information and experiences.

Britebound fulfills its mission through free digital-first direct experiences, philanthropy, advocacy, thought leadership, groundbreaking research, and impact investing. We believe that exploring career possibilities, as early as middle school, and providing access to education-to-career pathways aligned with one’s passions and goals will result in greater confidence and long-term success for all students.

We’re looking for an Associate Director Mission Impact Investing. This position will have primary responsibility for ensuring that the portfolio of investments is financially sound and innovative and has the potential to generate a reasonable market rate of return, recognizing that the primary goal of Britebound’s investments is impact. They will have strong analytical skills, financial and business acumen, and the knowledge, experience and judgment to make reasoned, well-articulated, and impactful investments.

What You’ll Do:

  • Working alongside VP of Mission Impact investing to align investment strategies and outcomes with Britebound’s mission and program goals, and to develop investment thesis and selection criteria for filtering investable opportunities.
  • Assist in communications to, and relationship with, Britebound’s Investment Committee (“IC”).
  • Working with entrepreneurs to source potential investments.
  • Conducting due diligence, recommending investments to the Program Directors and negotiating the terms.
  • Monitoring the performance of all investments and ensuring proper documentation of investments and valuations for accounting and audit purposes.
  • Providing technical assistance to investees (e.g. Business Plan review; serving as Board observer or Board representative, etc.).
  • Ensuring the right balance of innovation, return expectations, and appetite for risk, which together help distinguish Britebound’s investment approach.
  • Ensuring that Britebound complies with its statement of investment principles and working with the IC to update those principles over time. In close coordination with program directors, developing metrics for assessing performance of mission investments and effective reporting for all stakeholders.
  • Work between investments and other activities within each program to maximize and amplify overall social impact.
  • Regularly communicating and presenting the investment portfolio's activities, results, strategy, and lessons to the trustees, the IC, and senior management.

About You:

  • Excellent accounting and finance knowledge
  • High degree of honesty and integrity with commitment to Britebound’s mission.
  • Extensive network of social investors and experience collaborating with other funders and investors.
  • Superior understanding and proficiency in negotiating, structuring, and overseeing equity and debt investments.
  • Superb entrepreneurial skills demonstrating experience and competencies in understanding growing private companies.
  • Extensive experience working with small, highly accomplished teams to drive investment results.
  • Demonstrated leadership presence; with strong skills in verbal and written communication, relationship building, networking, and public speaking.
  • Team player who works well in a collegial environment.
  • An MBA and/or CFA designation is preferred, with a strong grounding in finance and investing.

Salary Range: $115,000 - $157,000 

Britebound is committed to fair and transparent pay. In determining compensation, we consider a variety of job-related factors, including prior experience, certifications and licenses, skills and expertise, geographic location, and internal equity.      

We take a total compensation approach, meaning we look beyond salary alone to support, reward, and recognize the whole individual. Depending on role eligibility, your offer may also include a bonus, 403(b) retirement plan participation, generous paid time off, and comprehensive health and life insurance benefits. As a result, final offer amounts may vary from the salary range listed in the job posting.
