JOB SUMMARY:

The N.U.in Program is one of Northeastern’s signature first-year experiences - an experiential and academic program that expands students’ Northeastern education into worldwide locations. 

The Associate Director leads the successful delivery of an assigned portfolio of Northeastern signature cohort-based programs for first-year students, such as the N.U.in Program. The Associate Director ensures operational and curricular quality and contributes to the management of The N.U.in Program. The Associate Director’s role may entail setting goals and leading discussions to drive decision-making and defining and resolving action items, such as with site management, functional areas, and planning processes. The Associate Director builds relationships with key constituents to foster program engagement and expansion. 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Program Oversight and Evaluation 

  • Ensure that on-site teams align site-specific events with partnership agreements and program goals of cross-cultural competency and global learning trajectory.

  • Collaborate with Northeastern University Admissions to develop and execute strategies for enrollment and student recruitment initiatives

  • Represent the University at admissions events to prospective students and families (Welcome Days, Yield Events, etc.).

  • Collaborate with Student Life, OGS (Office of Global Safety), and other internal stakeholders on the continuous improvement of the program.

  • Manage program operational and administrative processes and procedures and contribute to strategizing innovative ways to promote programs to prospective students.

  • Provide direction to site staff for all logistical and operational management of the site as well as partnership relationships and goals.

  • Actively contribute to the development of location-specific policies and planning and ensure alignment with overall program philosophies and budget constraints.

  • Plan and execute program events and services including experiential training and mentoring.

  • Lead, create, and participate, as assigned, in the development, coordination and execution of Pre-departure Orientations and on-site orientations.

  • Triage and respond to emergency issues outside of office hours; escalate issues as appropriate to management.

  • Actively contribute to the development of the annual plan for program alumni engagement.

  • Partner with Program Development Team on annual revisions and enhancements of existing cohort programs, and on brainstorming new ones.

  • Partner with NU’s Orientation office and key campus colleague on coordinating content of orientations and transition events.

  • Select, onboard, and continuously develop employees to cultivate an environment that inspires high performance and fosters a culture of excellence.

  • Design, implement, and deliver training programs for both staff and students to ensure understanding of program objectives, procedures, and expectations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Knowledge and skills are normally acquired through a minimum of five years of academic administrative experience and demonstrated experience facilitating relationships with multiple external partner institutions and related contracting and programming. Master’s degree and focus on international education preferred; or Bachelor’s plus a minimum of four years of related experience as described.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of program administration, evaluation, and development; comprehensive knowledge of student life, international travel, the impact of crossing cultures on the student learning abroad, and immigration and student visa regulations around the world; and comprehensive understanding of NAFSA: Association of International Educators’ professional ethics and competencies.

  • Demonstrated experience with staff supervision and coaching.

  • Strong organizational, project management, administrative skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software and familiarity with Salesforce, Terra Dotta, and student record systems.

  • Proven ability to analyze budget expenditures and recommend modifications to ensure budget balance and reconciliation.

Expected Hiring Range:

$66,851.00 - $94,427.75

With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
