Company Profile:

At Verastem Oncology, we're advancing innovation and addressing the urgent needs of patients living with cancers driven by RAS/MAPK pathway mutations, a key driver of tumor growth and treatment resistance. The FDA approval of AVMAPKI FAKZYNJA CO-PACK delivered the first therapy specifically for women living with recurrent KRAS-mutated low-grade serous ovarian cancer, a rare cancer with significant unmet need. We’ve successfully launched this innovative combination therapy in the U.S. and are exploring regulatory pathways for Europe and Japan. We are continuing to advance our pipeline of drugs that we believe will help block cancer cell survival, inhibit tumor growth, and overcome treatment resistance. With clinical trials underway, we have an exciting opportunity to shape the future of cancer care and make a meaningful impact in the lives of patients.

Summary:

The Associate Director/Director, Commercial Analytics & Forecasting is the analytical engine of the commercial organization — and personally operates it. This means diagnosing why actuals deviate from plan, identifying where in the patient journey volume is being lost, and producing the analysis that explains what the data means and what to do about it. The ideal candidate is a senior analyst who brings strategic judgment to the work and the willingness to be the one building the model, pulling the data, and writing the output. There is no analyst team beneath this role at the outset — the expectation is full portfolio ownership, carried independently, with the ability to grow a team as the organization scales.

Responsibilities:

Forecasting & Variance Analysis

  • Personally own and run monthly, quarterly, and annual brand and patient flow forecasting — run the analysis and produce the output
  • Diagnose drivers of deviation in patient identification, treatment initiation, adherence, and discontinuation against forecast assumptions — own the interpretation, not just the report
  • Partner with Finance on revenue planning and actuals reconciliation; be the analytical counterpart who can defend the numbers
  • Run scenario models that reflect revised market assumptions and translate directly into commercial decisions

Commercial Data & Reporting

  • Personally maintain commercial data infrastructure and drive continuous improvement in insight quality and delivery speed — this role does not hand data work off
  • Manage vendor relationships and own data integration decisions; know the data well enough to catch problems before they surface in a board deck
  • Build and maintain executive KPI dashboards directly — author the output, not just the framework
  • Own monthly and quarterly business review analytics packages end-to-end, from data pull to performance narrative

Promotional Effectiveness & Marketing Analytics

  • Build and maintain promotional effectiveness analytics — measure the impact of channel mix, digital engagement, speaker programs, and promotional spend against HCP behavior and prescription trends
  • Partner with marketing to evaluate tactic performance using claims, CRM, and engagement data; translate findings into resource allocation recommendations
  • Develop closed-loop analytics that connect promotional investment to prescriber response and patient initiation

Competitive Intelligence & Market Research

  • Monitor competitive landscape and benchmark competitor performance against our commercial trajectory
  • Synthesize primary and secondary market research with real-world performance data to identify market share and positioning opportunities
  • Maintain competitive tracker and deliver CI briefings that connect competitive signals to actionable commercial implications
  • Monitor scientific meetings and congress activity for competitive signal with direct relevance to prescriber behavior and market dynamics

New Product Planning

  • Support commercial assessment of pipeline assets across tumor types, grounded in real-world experience from the marketed product
  • Build market sizing and patient population models for pre-launch planning
  • Partner with Medical Affairs and Clinical on indication prioritization analytics
  • Develop launch readiness analytics frameworks for pipeline indications

Executive & Board Analytics

  • Personally build analytics packages for board of directors and executive leadership — own the model, write the narrative, produce output ready for the VP to present
  • Serve as the primary analytical resource for executive leadership; produce decision-ready analysis on demand without process lag
  • Translate complex performance data into clear narratives that give leadership the context and recommendation, not just the numbers
  • Support investor relations and due diligence requests with analytically rigorous commercial assessments

Qualifications:

  • 6–9 years of experience in commercial analytics, forecasting, or market research in pharma/biotech — with a clear track record of building the work, not just directing it
  • Deep personal experience with patient-based forecast models — must be able to build, run, and defend the model independently
  • Hands-on proficiency with claims data (IQVIA, Komodo, Symphony) and specialty pharmacy data at the individual analyst level — not just familiarity
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint required as primary working tools; SQL, Python, or R a strong plus
  • Experience delivering executive-ready analytical output personally — this role authors the output, not approves it
  • Experience with a marketed product in an active commercial environment strongly preferred; oncology or rare disease context a significant plus
  • Demonstrated ability to carry a broad analytical portfolio independently and grow into team leadership as the organization scales
