About the role:
A dynamic and visionary individual is sought to join our organization as a highly engaged member of the Commercial Data Management & Strategy team during a time of significant change. As a key player in the Data Acquisition team, the Domain Lead will play a crucial role in driving and navigating transformative initiatives while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, adaptability, and growth. The ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, combined with strategic thinking and exceptional problem-solving skills, and an enterprise mindset, will be paramount to success in this role. Strong leadership will be required to inspire and motivate teams to embrace change and achieve organizational objectives. Passion for innovation, coupled with experience, will be instrumental in shaping our future and ensuring its continued success in a rapidly evolving marketplace.
As an Associate Director of Data Acquisition, you will serve as the primary lead, subject matter expert, and communications point of contact within the USBU to ensure the commercial organization identifies, sources, and maintains an optimized supply of data within your respective data domain (Commercial / Specialty / Marketing / Market Access). Within your domain you will cultivate and maintain strong relationships with external data suppliers and internal user communities in order to ensure that both a high level of supplier account management is maintained as well as a thorough understanding of the priorities and aspirations of the data consumers. Your responsibility will be to connect the dots between these external and internal stakeholders and outline a strategy that finds an appropriate balance while executing the day-to-day tactics needed to advance it. You'll be expected to lead negotiations on contracts within your domain, both for new services and renewals, and work closely with CDMS Master Data and External Governance and Execution colleagues throughout the life cycle to ensure data acquisition smoothly transitions to onboarding, ingestion, and operations. You will also serve as the product manager for the Data Product that represents your domain. You will set the priorities and cadence of development and continual improvement activities in partnership with DD&T colleagues that will oversee the corresponding technical execution. As the product manager of the domain, you will set and drive data governance activities for the Data Product which include ongoing communication and alignment with the other data domains and data products. In totality, you will be expected to have a 360 understanding and command of all aspects of this data domain within the commercial organization, from how and where it is sourced, to how it is brought into the organization, and how and why the user community deploys it so that you can continually elevate the experience for all parties.
How you will contribute:

  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert and communications point of contact for the data domain you represent for the USBU.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with external data suppliers and the internal user communities that seek to obtain and utilize this data for a variety of commercial purposes.
  • Lead account management activities to ensure the alignment of information between parties and maintain good standing with suppliers and where all materials are kept up to date.
  • Conduct frequent listening sessions with key internal stakeholders to understand their brand and analytics strategies so that you can best develop an appropriate and corresponding acquisition strategy
  • Negotiate contracts for new services and renewals, partnering with procurement, legal, and appropriate CDMS department stakeholders.
  • Consistently and proactively research the industry partners within your domain to identify new and emerging opportunities and bring those updates to the data community on a regular basis
  • Act as the product manager for the Data Product that represents your domain which includes consolidating requirements, setting and balancing priorities and backlog items, and partnering with DD&T to ensure technical development follows through and continual improvements are shipped to production.
  • Collaborate with DD&T representatives and leaders to improve the quality and efficiency of the Data Product.
  • Lead and organize data governance activities for your Data Product, ensuring compliance, up to date documentation, resolving conflicts, and driving continuous improvement efforts.
  • Appropriately escalate and drive complex decisions and trade-offs within the Data Product in other governance forums where DD&T, CDMS and BU leaders can adjudicate
  • Coordinate with the External Data Governance & Execution team to ensure appropriate budgeting, contracting, and all related finance obligations are satisfied
  • Provide strategic direction and guidance for the evolution and enhancement of both the core data acquisition portfolio within the domain and the corresponding Data Product.
