The Associate Commerce Editor will edit articles, research products, analyze content performance, and optimize legacy content for SEO and conversions.
BDG is seeking a full-time remote or hybrid Associate Commerce Editor to join our growing Commerce and Affiliate Marketing team. The team consists of editors and business strategists who create the affiliate content across all of BDG’s sites, including Bustle, Elite Daily, Inverse, Mic, and Scary Mommy. These articles, and the Commerce team broadly, operate separately from each site’s editorial team. Commerce articles are written to generate revenue from sales of products featured in the articles.

The Associate Commerce Editor’s day to day will include editing articles to ensure they uphold editorial standards and successfully generate revenue; researching products and product categories in order to create compelling and informative content; analyzing traffic and performance data; and updating/optimizing legacy content to improve SEO and conversion rates. This role will work on content covering a wide range of product categories, including home improvement,
lifestyle, beauty, fashion, and technology.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented editor, persuasive writer, and product enthusiast with a mix of editorial and analytical skills. Candidates should understand how to tailor content to different audiences and platforms, as well as be comfortable looking at and interpreting data to understand shopping trends.
Responsibilities
- Edit stories from Commerce writers for grammar, voice, product choice, and formatting.
- Research products and interview experts across several categories, including beauty, tech, and home.
- Update and optimize existing content.
- Use analytics tools and data provided by business strategy teammates to monitor content performance and form recommendations to improve content.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in e-commerce or editorial—strong preference for background in affiliate content
- Ability to write and edit in a brand-aligned, engaging, and persuasive tone that encourages product discovery and conversions.
- Strong analytical mindset—comfortable reviewing performance data and making content optimizations based on key metrics.
- Experience with CMS platforms such as WordPress or custom publishing tools.
- Some experience managing writers
- Experience using affiliate platforms such as Amazon Associates.
