Responsibilities:
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology seeks to fill a non-tenure track job opening for an Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, or Full Teaching Professor in the areas of introductory sociology, research methods, social theory, and other courses according to the candidate’s interests. Duties include a teaching load of six courses for the academic year (three courses each semester) and ongoing curricular and pedagogical innovation. The successful candidate will have evidence of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level in introductory sociology, research methods, and/or social theory. Experience in experiential learning is a plus given Northeastern’s practice-oriented education model. While the need to teach an occasional course remotely (online) may occur, the position is in residence at Northeastern’s Boston campus. Opportunities for summer teaching for additional compensation may be available. The successful candidate will also contribute to student advising and other departmental service responsibilities.
Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Sociology or a closely related field in hand by the employment start date is required.

Candidates should provide evidence of teaching excellence, including student evaluations and sample course materials.

Candidates should have demonstrated commitment to promoting experiential learning, which are central to a Northeastern education.

Pay Range:
Assistant Teaching Professor: $70,000 - $80,000 | Assoicate Teaching Professor: $77,000 - $87,000 | Teaching Professor: $85,000 - $95,000
With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
