JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Director, Survivor Support at the Office of Prevention and Education at Northeastern (OPEN) will be a member of a collaborative team responsible for prevention, education, training, and support related to alcohol and other drugs, sexual violence, sexual health and wellness for the Northeastern University student community. The role includes supporting students and assisting in implementing comprehensive, research-driven, socio-culturally relevant, and in-depth prevention programming to create long-lasting change for the Northeastern community. 

The primary function of this role is to oversee support for survivors of sexual violence in OPEN’s Sexual Violence Resource Center.   

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Individual Student Support

Provide consultation, referrals, and support to students who have been impacted by sexual violence via the Sexual Violence Resource Center. Meet with students to help them understand their rights, resources, and reporting options. Facilitate survivor support group for survivors of sexual violence. Consult with students, faculty, and staff looking to support students impacted by sexual violence. Provide alcohol and other drug assessment and brief intervention services to students as needed. Keep accurate, timely and detailed case notes. 

Presentations, Programs and Outreach

Develop and facilitate programs and presentations with students, student groups, and/or faculty and staff on the topics of alcohol and other drugs, sexual violence, consent, sexual health, relationships, mental health and other wellness related topics. Run awareness week programmingDevelop relationships with campus partners across Northeastern’s Global University system to build awareness of OPEN’s resources and services. 

Supervisory responsibilities

Hire and provide training and supervision to graduate student clinical interns.

Administrative responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day operations of the Sexual Violence Resource Center including case distribution, group supervision, etc.

MINMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- Master's degree in social work, counseling or related field and independent licensure or working towards independent licensure required 

- Experience working with young adults or college-aged population and/or experience supporting survivors of sexual violence 

- Experience working with diverse groups including, those identifying as BIPOC and LGBTQ, international populations, and other under-represented populations.

- Strong organizational skills 

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 

- Experience communicating with college-aged individuals on matters related to alcohol and other drugs, sexual violence, sexual health and/or other wellness-related topics 

- Sophisticated understanding of how intersectionality, privilege, and socioeconomic status relate to issues around alcohol/other drugs, sexual violence, sexual health and wellness.  

- Strong presentation skills

Expected Hiring Range:

$52,820.00 - $74,607.50

With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
