About the Role:
Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Assistant Controller will be both leader and contributor, supporting all aspects of the accounting function at Digital. ai. This role is ideal for someone eager to grow into a leadership position while staying actively involved in daily accounting operations. Primary responsibilities will be managing key aspects of the monthly close, reviewing account reconciliations and journal entries, posting higher level corporate entries, supporting our external audit and tax processes, as well as overseeing the work of other accounting staff. This person will also partner closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing, Procurement, and Finance leadership as well as cross-functionally with other department leaders. This is an excellent opportunity to join a small but mighty accounting team in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment focused on process improvement.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional with a strong understanding of US GAAP and a desire to lead and mentor. The have experience with SaaS/software accounting and multi-entity accounting. They will take ownership of the accuracy and integrity of their work and are equally comfortable reviewing the work of others or preparing it themselves. They have experience with managing parts of a close process, working with external audit and tax accountants, and managing or supervising others. They are proactive and collaborative with a mindset of continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration. They have an established track record of accomplishing objectives in a dynamic and fully remote business environment. They assume ownership and accountability for their commitments and can work independently.
What you will do:
- Lead portions of the monthly and year-end close, ensuring accurate and timely reporting under US GAAP.
- Review and approve account reconciliations, journal entries, and accounting schedules prepared by staff accountants.
- Prepare higher-level corporate journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and consolidating adjustments.
- Partner with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Billing to ensure completeness and accuracy of the subledgers.
- Support the Controller with corporate audit and tax processes
- Assist in maintaining and improving accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Collaborate with global accounting teams to support intercompany transactions and eliminations.
- Identify opportunities to streamline close processes and leverage technology or automation and efficiency.
- Mentor and develop junior accounting team members, providing feedback and guidance to support their professional growth.
- Participate in special projects, process improvements, and system enhancements as assigned.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
- 6-9 years of progressive experience in accounting roles, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory capacity
- Working knowledge of US GAAP and general ledger accounting principles.
- Prior experience in SaaS or software industry and multi-entity corporate structure strongly preferred
- Prior experience with third party audit and tax providers, including preparation of support documents and communicating directly with external accountants.
- Intermediate to strong Excel skills and proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)
- Excellent attention to detail and an analytical mindset balanced with an ability to be flexible and embrace change
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability and desire to build relationships across accounting, finance, and other operational teams
- A proactive, self-motivated approach and desire to take ownership of results and processes in a fast-paced, fully-remote setting

The current salary range for this specific job is estimated to be $130,000-135,000 base. Please note that final compensation will be determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, and internal equity. We value transparency and aim to create an inclusive and equitable workplace for all our employees. Certain positions at Digital.ai might also be eligible for additional compensation in the form of bonuses, or other employee benefits which are separate from the base salary and to be defined at offer stage.
