ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking an Assistant Controller to join our Operations team. In this role, you will provide support to the portfolio management, risk and capital teams for investment decisions and execution on an individual deal basis. You will be responsible for key investor reporting, communicating with large institutional investors. We are a small team, and you will be an integral part of the day-to-day. Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record of meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment, an aptitude for data and analytics, and a collaborative approach to problem solving.

In this role, you will:

  • Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day finance and operational functions of the firm. This extends to all areas of recording, monitoring, and accounting for the company’s (re)insurance-based and derivative portfolios from deal capture to financial reporting and forecasting.
  • Work with the company’s fund administrator to confirm accurate and timely investor reporting, extending to detailed reviews of their work and reconciliations to internal accounts.
  • Contribute to our loss valuation and claims management processes as a key team member
  • Contribute to the annual audit and tax processes
  • Collaborate with our Technology group to build more effective workflows
  • Take charge of key internal and external reporting commitments to investors, counterparties, regulators and internal compliance
  • Act as an escalation point for issues pertaining to transaction settlements and reconciliations of trades
  • Represent the company with customers, brokers, custodians, auditors, and regulators

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM (QUALIFICATIONS):

  • Recognized professional accounting designation (CA, CPA or ACCA)
  • 4 years’ post qualification experience of hedge fund, investment or insurance/reinsurance accounting
  • Experience of assessing and explaining fund performance
  • Experience with reviewing and valuing reinsurance contracts is preferred
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Skilled at streamlining operational processes
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Option to upgrade title and compensation for a qualified candidate with the right capabilities and a significant amount of relevant experience

  • Total Compensation between 125,000-175,000 USD
