We are home to several of Roblox's top games, including Brookhaven, Driving Empire, and NFL Universe Football. With over 160 million monthly active players across our games, we are one of the biggest Roblox studios by audience size. Founded in 2015, we have since grown to 95+ full-time remote team members across the globe.

Role Overview

Voldex is looking for an Art Director to lead and scale our Art function across our growing portfolio of live-service games. You’ll lead and develop our Art Leads, strengthen how our teams operate, and ensure we continue delivering high-quality, distinctive art across our games. 🚀

💡 This role is ideal for an experienced art leader who brings together strong artistic judgment, exceptional people leadership, and a deep understanding of art production. You’ll partner closely with Art Leads and cross-functional leadership to navigate creative, technical, and production challenges, while ensuring our teams have the right structure, resources, and support to do their best work.

We’re looking for someone who knows how to lead through other leaders—coaching and empowering Art Leads while maintaining a strong quality bar and helping the broader Art organization scale. If you’re passionate about building great teams and creating exceptional player experiences, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do
  • Own the overall health, scalability, and performance of the Art function across all of Voldex’s games

  • Lead, coach, and develop Art Leads, empowering them to own the visual direction and day-to-day leadership of their games independently

  • Partner with Art Leads to establish, maintain, and evolve distinctive visual directions that resonate with each game’s players

  • Maintain a portfolio-level view of art capacity, roadmap demand, delivery risks, and capability gaps across all games

  • Allocate full-time and contract resources across competing priorities to ensure teams have the support needed to deliver their roadmaps

  • Build and maintain a reliable network of high-quality art talent that can be engaged as needs change

  • Lead art hiring end-to-end, partnering with Art Leads to source, evaluate, select, and onboard full-time, part-time, and contract talent

  • Establish and improve art standards, workflows, review processes, and sign-offs that increase quality, consistency, and efficiency

  • Partner closely with Product Managers, Producers, Engineers, and company leadership to translate product goals into clear and achievable art plans

  • Guide Art Leads and cross-functional partners through tradeoffs involving artistic quality, technical performance, scope, and deadlines

  • Ensure consistent, high-quality art delivery across all games without relying on sustained crunch

  • Manage performance across the Art leadership team, including delivering direct feedback, supporting development, and addressing performance issues when necessary

Who You Are
  • Proven leadership of an Art function supporting multiple games (ideally), products, or teams simultaneously, with accountability for overall quality, capacity, delivery, and performance

  • Deep experience leading sizable art organizations, including managing teams of at least 25 full-time employees and directly managing multiple Art Leads or other art people managers

  • A strong track record of coaching and developing Art Leads into stronger, more independent leaders, alongside extensive people management experience including difficult feedback, performance improvement, and terminations

  • Experience overseeing distinct visual directions across multiple games or products, with the artistic judgment to maintain a high quality bar across different styles and audiences

  • Strong artistic and technical expertise spanning 3D art, animation, 2D art, and technical art, including direct experience leading teams responsible for 3D asset creation

  • Experience establishing technical art standards that balance visual quality with reliable performance across supported devices

  • Strong art production and resource management experience, including portfolio-level capacity planning and allocating full-time and contract talent across competing priorities

  • A track record of consistently delivering high-quality art against roadmap commitments without relying on sustained crunch

  • Experience leading Art within a live-service environment with regular content and game updates

  • End-to-end art hiring experience, from identifying capability gaps and partnering with recruiters on sourcing through evaluating artistic and technical talent and making hiring decisions

  • Experience building and scaling teams using a mix of full-time, part-time, and freelance/contract talent as production needs change

  • Experience hiring and managing distributed, international teams across multiple markets and time zones

Nice to Have

  • Experience serving as the senior-most leader of an Art organization, including reporting to a leader outside of the art discipline

  • Roblox Studio and Roblox development experience, with an understanding of the platform’s technical and performance considerations

  • Experience working within an art organization of similar size or complexity to Voldex, ideally managing teams of 40+ full-time employees

  • Experience overseeing art across multiple game genres, audiences, and visual styles simultaneously

  • Experience working on games involving external brand or IP partnerships with specific creative guidelines, approvals, or requirements

  • A strong network of art talent and experience independently sourcing and hiring freelance or part-time artists as needs arise
