ABOUT US

Stio® is an omni-channel mountain brand that designs, develops and sells beautiful, functional, and innovative apparel, footwear and other accessories infused with the soul of the mountain lifestyle. With headquarters in Jackson, Wyoming, Stio draws inspiration from the surrounding Teton Range and offers product via Stio.com, catalog, B2B and its Mountain Studio® retail locations.

We live and love mountain life, and as such see ourselves as caretakers of the resources that provide it. We are proud partners of Protect Our Winters and the Conservation Alliance among many other organizations. We have a strong preferred materials platform, use Bluesign® approved textiles wherever possible, audit our supply chains for best practices, and operate our workplaces responsibly.

We think that outside is the best side and that you can’t improve on nature. It’s good for mind, body and soul, and it’s our responsibility to help enable access for all people, regardless of race, gender, beliefs, background or ability. We strive for inclusion at Stio and in our local and national communities.

YOUR ROLE

The Art Director, Brand & Concepts is responsible for shaping how Stio looks and feels across every touchpoint from seasonal campaigns and product launches to brand identity, packaging, retail environments, and events. This role partners closely with the Associate Creative Director to develop and execute brand and seasonal product marketing creative that is visually distinctive, emotionally resonant, and deeply rooted in mountain life.

This is a role for a creative who brings both a strong conceptual point of view and the executional range to bring ideas to life at a high level. Someone who can pitch a campaign concept to senior leadership just as confidently as they can translate it into a finished asset, and who is equally at home on location, art directing lifestyle photo and video productions alongside photographers, stylists, filmmakers, models, and athletes.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Brand Creative & Identity

    • Develop and maintain brand creative systems that ensure consistency across all channels while leaving room for freshness and evolution
    • Bring a strong point of view to every project — knowing how to make work that feels distinctly Stio, not just on-trend
  • Campaign Concepting

    • Translate brand strategy and seasonal briefs into compelling visual concepts — from mood boards and visual frameworks through final execution
    • Pitch creative ideas to senior leadership with confidence, clarity, and a compelling narrative
    • Balance brand-building ambition with commercial effectiveness and channel realities
  • Packaging & Collateral
    • Art direct and execute packaging design across product categories, ensuring consistency with brand identity
    • Develop brand collateral, hang tags, labels, and print materials that reflect Stio’s quality standards and aesthetic
  • New Stores & Events
    • Partner with retail and marketing teams to develop creative for new Mountain Studio store openings, in-store environments, and brand events
    • Bring cohesive visual storytelling to physical brand moments — from signage and fixtures to event graphics and experiential touch points
  • Video & Storyboarding
    • Develop storyboards and visual treatments for video and motion creative in support of campaign concepts
    • Collaborate with production partners and internal stakeholders to bring video creative to life on-brand and on-brief
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with Brand Marketing, Digital, E-commerce, Product, and Retail teams to ensure creative consistency across all channels
    • Contribute to creative briefs, reviews, and feedback processes — elevating work through clear direction and high craft standards
    • Mentor and provide creative direction to internal designers and senior designers.
    • Manage and direct freelancers, external designers, and creative partners as needed

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 7+ years of experience in art direction or graphic design, with a portfolio spanning brand campaigns, identity, and digital creative
  • Experience at a consumer brand in outdoor, apparel, activewear, lifestyle, or adjacent categories
  • Strong visual instincts and a clear, differentiated point of view. You know the difference between work that’s good and work that’s great
  • Experience art directing lifestyle photo and video productions on-location leading shoots alongside photographers, stylists, filmmakers, models, and athletes making clear, confident creative decisions in a fast-moving environment.
  • Proven ability to concept and lead campaigns from brief through final delivery

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)

  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
