Elliott Company’s Jeannette, PA, office seeks Applications Engineer III (Multiple Openings) to develop and prepare technical solutions and quotation proposals for new equipment, applying API 617, API 612, etc. standards to meet or exceed customer requirements. This is a fully remote position, and the employees can work from anywhere in the United States. Specific job duties include: (i) responding to customer inquiries for new equipment; (ii) defining the Elliott scope of supply and identifying items not specifically included in Elliott’s scope; (iii) completing the requisition forms for major purchased auxiliaries and working with Purchasing to secure quotations for the same; (iv) performing reviews of customer and industry standard specifications for the purpose of providing comments and exceptions and identifying nonstandard items that would affect cost/delivery; (v) creating proposals including data sheets, scope, performance curves, pricing, delivery, comments and exceptions to specifications, and all other pertinent data (vi) participating in bid clarification meetings with Sales/customer as required; (vii) working with Sales/Management to adjust scope/delivery/price as needed to be competitive; (viii) transferring data to Project Engineering / Project Management after an order is received; and (ix) developing standards,
repeatable procedures and calculations.

This is a fully remote position, and the employees can work from anywhere in the United States.

Must have a bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent degree) in Mechanical Engineering plus five (5) years of experience in a related position.

Experience must include five (5) years with: (i) expertise in thermodynamic and aerodynamic predictions as related to the performance of turbomachinery; (ii) application and design of both steam turbines, compressors, custom pumps and hot gas expanders as well as their related auxiliaries (i.e. motors, gears, lube systems, surface condensers, dry gas seal systems, control systems); (iii) balancing the inter- relationship between price, performance, delivery, and reliability when selecting/designing a unit; (iv) preparing proposals, conducting meetings, answering sales/customer questions and writing technical papers/articles/procedures/application manuals; (v) balancing internal cost structure, market value, and margin goals when pricing a project; (vi) the application/design of bearings, seals, materials, thermal and dynamic stress and strain, and rotor dynamics, lateral and torsional analysis; (viii) system level dynamic simulation to determine compressor string start-up requirements, noise calculations; (ix) Generation and review of Piping and Instrumentation (P&ID) diagram creation, participation of HAZOP, design reviews and (x) Sun and IBM networks, application programs, Word, Excel, CRM, Oracle CPQ Bigmachines, windchill, Creo and Lotus Notes.

Must be able and willing to travel domestically and internationally to various employers, clients, and other locations up to 15% of the time.
