Job Purpose:

This position is responsible for the successful execution of account and territory strategies for assigned broker dealers distributing TruStage Annuities. This includes acquisition, optimization and retention of business. Provide strategic support to wholesalers to enhance their efforts of F2F product distribution through affiliated representatives and external broker dealers.  Develop and implement strategic plans for business development with investment advisors and help manage the relationship with key managers with external broker dealers.

Employ consultative selling approach to support retail sales activities including increasing sales and market share objectives within an assigned geographic region.  This role will help manage day to day activities of designated wholesaler(s); these include setting appointments, developing sales plans, providing marketplace feedback and assisting in the building of market strategies.  Utilizes appropriate judgment to allocate financial resources from the assigned territory’s business development budget and acts as a catalyst to drive sales growth, build market share and meet necessary sales and asset targets for the TruStage Annuity products. This role will be based outside of the Madison office location.

Account Specialist - Possesses detailed knowledge and/or skill on a specific subject or activity relating to financial industry and TruStage Annuity product wholesaling.  Their talents are devoted to a specific business focus, and they can provide guidance, mentorship, technical leadership and training to the team when appropriate.  Develops and implements solutions that align with key business strategies and initiatives. Provide public speaking support within various territories. Conducts territory reviews with National Accounts and Broker Dealer relationships. Able to conduct F2F meetings on their own within their territory as needed. Will work to obtain additional industry related licenses, certificates and/or designations.

Territory of coverage is the Pacific Northwest, but includes WA, OR, WY, UT, ID, and MT. Ideal candidate would live in the market or within the Pacific Time Zone.

Job Responsibilities:

  • This is a focused, business-building position whose accountabilities will be accomplished through developing and expanding advisor relationships, educating, assisting and executing product sales programs and strategies via virtual and face to face channels.

  • Continuously build, maintain and enhance positive business relationships within investment advisors offering CM Annuity products, serving as a resource for sales support for an assigned distribution channel and/or territory.  Provide outbound support, including advising on the availability and appropriate use of CM Annuity products, literature and sales tools.  Help develop and share ideas with investment advisors that increases sales; educate advisors on new product releases and enhancements; communicate economic and industry data relevant to the use of products; help develop recognition programs and ensure their effective administration.  Document field contact through established contact management tools, utilizing contact data to enhance the level of field support and improve decision-making.

  • Provide support, including answering product questions; following up on requests for information and proposals; support product education; and providing timely responses to problems encountered in the field. Serve as a troubleshooter and problem solver for advisors on product and process issues and maintain a strong knowledge of available corporate resources, referring advisors to appropriate areas as necessary to ensure problem resolution. 

  • As needed, provide marketing support for advisors through periodic participation in field schools, training meetings, and sales conventions. Help design and deliver product sessions and marketing presentations; participate in product marketing booths at conventions or trade shows; and demonstrate product sales tools and concepts at meetings.  Develop strong relationships with field management, home office service, marketing, and investment advisory staff, as well as employees from various business areas, working to ensure effective communication between all parties.

  • Provide proactive sales and marketing support to one or more Regional Vice Presidents, Wholesalers and/or product marketers. This support includes partnering in the development and execution of marketing plans; allocating funding for business development programs; providing sales strategies; implementing sales call procedures; provide product education and developing recognition campaigns for face-to-face representatives.  Follow up on requests for information from product managers or marketers and analyze internal business information; industry and economic data; and competitive information, utilizing that data to provide effective marketing support.  In conjunction with the sales directors and product marketers, provide marketing support for project efforts, including development of new products or product enhancements, related training material revisions and product promotional efforts, and introduction campaigns.

  • Maintain and build strong product knowledge, including any related economic, industry and competitor’s information.  Build and maintain strong knowledge of the entire CM Annuities product portfolio.  Maintain a solid understanding of back-office processes for the investment advisor, broker/dealer operations, and the service areas, as well as a working knowledge of associated vendor relationships.

Job Requirements:

List of general education, background and experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities typically required to effectively perform the responsibilities of the job. Also include any required licenses and/or designations.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or equivalent trade off in professional work experience.

  • 3-5 years of sales, marketing or customer service experience in the financial industry.

  • Strong knowledge of investment and/or insurance products.

  • Demonstrated sales & marketing knowledge of annuities and variable products, and their appropriate applications within the context of a needs-based sales process.

  • FINRA Securities Industry Essentials Examination, Series 6 or 7 and 63 licenses required.  Life and Variable Licenses required.

  • Industry designations a plus (CPA, CFA, ChFC, CLU, etc.)

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Capable of presenting technical product knowledge with professional phone and face to face skills

  • Exercise sound judgment and solid decision making for allocating company resources for business development.

  • Highly motivated and able to work independently and perform under pressure. Proven ability to grow a sales territory.

  • Ability and desire to spend significant portion of job developing relationships virtually and over the phone.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment. Strong territory management, independence and organizational skills.

  • Working knowledge of office automation tools; experience with contact management tools a plus.

  • Ability to travel up to 30%.

Base Salary Range:

$48,800.00 - $81,300.00
