Position Summary: Join athenahealth as an Analytics Manager where you will lead impactful analytics initiatives that drive data-informed decision-making across the organization. This remote US-based role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to design and deliver actionable insights that support business and people strategies. The Analytics Manager will report directly to the People Analytics Director. 

 

The Team:  We are building a People Analytics function that delivers clarity, anticipates needs, and equips leaders at every level to make confident, ethical, data-informed decisions. Our mission is to make people data simple, accessible, forward-looking, and embedded in how athenahealth leads, plans, and operates. We focus on clarity over complexity by designing analytics solutions that are easy to understand and actionable. Collaboration and partnership are central to our approach, working closely with Centers of Excellence (COEs), Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs), and organizational leaders to co-create analytics that meet real business needs. Ethical stewardship guides our work, prioritizing privacy, fairness, responsible analytics, and transparency. We emphasize scalability and reuse by building repeatable and maintainable analytics ecosystems that grow with the organization. Finally, we foster curiosity with purpose, encouraging thoughtful questions and ensuring insights lead to meaningful actions. 

 

Job Responsibilities  

Analytics & Data Management 

  • Develop, manage, and execute analytics projects that support employee listening, research design, and program evaluation initiatives. 

  • Extract, transform, and analyze data using SQL and other analytics tools to generate accurate, actionable insights. 

  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with privacy and ethical standards throughout all analytics processes. 

Research Design & Evaluation 

  • Design and implement rigorous research methodologies, including quantitative and qualitative approaches, to measure employee engagement, organizational effectiveness, and program impact. 

  • Lead evaluation efforts to assess the effectiveness of people programs and initiatives, providing evidence-based recommendations for improvement. 

  • Develop and validate employee surveys and assessment tools with attention to psychometric principles such as reliability and validity. 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define research questions, hypotheses, and success metrics aligned with organizational goals. 

Organizational Insight & Consultation 

  • Apply principles of organizational behavior to interpret analytics results and provide nuanced insights into workplace dynamics. 

  • Partner with HR Business Partners, Centers of Excellence, and business leaders to identify analytics needs and co-create solutions that drive decision-making. 

  • Translate complex data and research findings into clear, concise reports and presentations for diverse audiences, including leadership teams. 

  • Facilitate data-driven conversations and support leaders in interpreting analytics to inform strategy and action. 

Process Improvement & Scalability 

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of scalable analytics dashboards and reporting tools that enhance data accessibility and usability. 

  • Identify opportunities to streamline analytics workflows and promote reuse of methodologies and tools across projects. 

  • Support continuous improvement efforts by staying current with industry best practices and emerging analytics technologies. 

 

Additional Job Responsibilities: 

  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI technologies to automate analytics processes and improve efficiency; develop and write effective AI prompts; and exercise sound judgment on appropriate and ethical use of AI tools in the workplace. 

  • Support the development and maintenance of analytics dashboards and reporting tools. 

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of analytics processes and methodologies. 

  • Participate in cross-functional projects to integrate people analytics with broader business analytics efforts. 

  • Assist in training and mentoring colleagues on analytics best practices and tools. 

  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging analytics technologies to inform team capabilities. 

  • Provide ad hoc analysis and support for special projects as needed. 

  • Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making within the organization. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, Psychology, Human Resources, or a related field required. 

  • Master’s degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology or a related discipline preferred. 

  • 2 to 6 years of professional experience in analytics, research design, evaluation, or a related discipline, preferably within HR or people analytics. 

  • Proficiency in SQL for data querying, manipulation, and analysis. 

  • Experience designing and executing employee listening programs, surveys, or other research methodologies. 

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights. 

  • Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. 

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. 

  • Experience working in a remote environment and managing priorities independently. 


Expected Compensation

$114,000 - $194,000

The base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevant knowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles, and geographical market rates.  Base pay is only one part of our competitive Total Rewards package - depending on role eligibility, we offer both short and long-term incentives by way of an annual discretionary bonus plan, variable compensation plan, and equity plans.
