Design and test analog/mixed-signal integrated circuits, including data converters and RF electronics, while collaborating on complex circuit implementations.
General Description:
The Mixed Signal Solutions department at HRL Laboratories is a highly talented team of scientists and engineers with diverse backgrounds in integrated circuit design, advanced packaging and integration, novel signal processing and algorithm development, and integration / characterization of highly complex digital and mixed signal systems and subsystems for commercial and government applications in an innovative research and development environment. We seek an analog / mixed-signal IC design engineer to work as part of a project team in this environment.
Essential Duties:
Design and test of analog/mixed-signal integrated circuits including data converters, signal generation and signal processing circuits, and RF front-end electronics for a range of diverse applications.
Understanding and pushing limits of circuit performance.
Translating new concepts and theory into circuit implementations.
Responsibilities involve all aspects of IC design including architecture development, circuit concept demonstration, transistor-level design, simulation, modeling, circuit measurement, and customer interaction.
Required Skills:
5+ years actively involved with design and testing of mixed-signal integrated circuits in bipolar and FET technologies.
Experience with laboratory test equipment and characterization of mixed-signal IC and devices is required, where validation of circuit concepts in a laboratory environment is encouraged.
Experience with digital signal processing, applications of data converters and sampled data systems, and digital correction techniques are preferred.
Digital design skills are also desirable.
Familiarity with semiconductor IC technologies is desired
Understanding of circuit design techniques, semiconductor device physics, signal processing, control theory, and communications theory. Familiarity with low power and low noise design techniques is desired.
Use of typical IC design CAD environments including Cadence and behavioral level simulation tools such as Matlab/Simulink is desired.
A strong mathematical/analytical background is preferred.
Proficiency in use of computers, engineering work stations, verbal and written communication, interaction with customers/colleagues, and a deadline-driven/fast-paced environment.
Required Education:
M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering
Physical Requirements:
Must be able and willing to travel to customer sites and program reviews and sufficiently mobile to conduct business throughout plant site.
Special Requirements:
U.S. citizenship required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Active security clearance or current SSBI is a plus
Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $145,745 - $186,688 + bonus + benefits.
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
