Your Impact at LILA

Lila is seeking an Operations and Quality Engineer to help operationalize the lifecycle systems, deployment workflows, engineering standards, and operational infrastructure required to scale AI Science Factories (AISFs).

This role supports the AISF engineering systems infrastructure (PLM, QMS, and more) deployment program ("Blueprint"), and partners cross-functionally with Engineering, Robotics, Software, Research Operations, Facilities, EHS, and IT/OT teams to help establish scalable operational foundations for globally deployable AISF platforms.

The focus of this role is not traditional quality administration or heavy compliance management. Instead, this position helps ensure operational standards, lifecycle systems, deployment records, engineering baselines, and platform workflows are lightweight, usable, organized, and consistently adopted by technical and operational teams.

This is a highly execution-oriented role ideal for someone who enjoys bringing operational structure and lifecycle coherence to fast-moving interdisciplinary engineering and operations environments.

What You'll Be Building

Lifecycle Systems & Operational Infrastructure

  • Support rollout and day-to-day administration of operational lifecycle systems including Arena PLM and associated engineering repositories.
  • Help maintain release structures, revision workflows, part numbering systems, deployment baselines, and operational records.
  • Support configuration visibility and operational lineage tracking across AISF platforms and deployments.
  • Assist with maintaining operational templates, standards repositories, onboarding resources, and lifecycle reference materials.

Deployment & Commissioning Support

  • Coordinate lightweight operational workflows supporting deployment readiness, FAT/SAT activities, commissioning records, and release tracking.
  • Help maintain deployment readiness checklists, commissioning evidence, operational handoff records, and platform release artifacts.
  • Support operational consistency across engineering, robotics, software, and research operations deployment activities.
  • Assist with organizing operational evidence and deployment records in a consistent and reviewable manner.

Blueprint (Systems Infrastructure) Program Operationalization

  • Support execution of operational work streams and cross-functional coordination activities.
  • Help maintain milestones, trackers, action items, and operational follow-through.
  • Coordinate with engineering, robotics, software, operations, and facilities stakeholders to help workflows remain practical and lightweight.
  • Assist with onboarding and rollout of operational templates, lifecycle practices, and deployment support structures.

Operational Documentation & Knowledge Systems

  • Maintain controlled operational standards and lifecycle documentation repositories.
  • Support standardization of templates for commissioning, deployment readiness, operational records, engineering changes, and lifecycle workflows.
  • Help ensure operational documentation reflects current engineering and deployment realities.
  • Improve discoverability and usability of operational knowledge systems.

Lifecycle Visibility & Asset Coordination

  • Support operational asset tracking and lifecycle coordination activities across deployed AISF systems and engineering platforms.
  • Help organize commissioning records, deployment baselines, operational lineage, maintenance records, and sustaining support artifacts.
  • Assist with maintaining lightweight operational reporting structures where applicable.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • 3–7 years supporting engineering operations, operational systems, technical programs, lifecycle systems, manufacturing operations, or interdisciplinary infrastructure environments.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, operations, automation, robotics, facilities, or technical deployment teams.
  • Familiarity with lifecycle management concepts such as PLM, release management, commissioning, deployment workflows, operational baselining, or configuration tracking.
  • Experience working with tools such as Arena PLM, Jira, Notion, Confluence, CAD/PDM systems, or similar operational tooling.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills with the ability to drive operational follow-through across multiple teams.
  • Comfortable operating in rapidly evolving environments with incomplete systems and emerging operational structure.
  • Strong written communication and documentation skills.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience supporting robotics, automation, advanced manufacturing, hardware infrastructure, or technical operations environments.
  • Familiarity with commissioning, FAT/SAT, sustaining engineering, deployment readiness, or operational support workflows.
  • Exposure to operational governance, engineering standards, or lightweight quality systems in technical organizations.
  • Experience building templates, operational workflows, onboarding structures, or lifecycle coordination systems.

Skills & Behaviors

  • Systems-minded and operationally organized.
  • Practical and lightweight in approach.
  • Strong bias toward usability over bureaucracy.
  • Comfortable coordinating across multiple technical disciplines.
  • Able to improve operational structure without slowing innovation velocity.
  • Strong follow-through and execution discipline.
  • Calm operating in ambiguity and evolving organizational systems.
