Job Description

SS&C is seeking an experienced Kubernetes and Cloud Operations Platform Engineer to join our team and help us build out our cloud infrastructure and operations capabilities. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing company and make a significant impact on our technology stack and operations.
Job Summary:
As a AI Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure, with a focus on Kubernetes and containerization. You will also be responsible for Platform Engineer on a daily basis and eventually building out a team to handle release management and operations, ensuring that our applications are deployed efficiently, reliably, and securely. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and experience in building and managing high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cloud Infrastructure: Design, implement, and maintain our cloud infrastructure, including Kubernetes clusters, containerization, and cloud-native services.
2. Kubernetes Expertise: Develop and maintain expertise in Kubernetes, including cluster management, deployment strategies, and troubleshooting.
3. Release Management: Develop and implement release management processes and procedures to ensure efficient, reliable, and secure deployment of applications.
4. Team Building: Build out a team of engineers to handle release management and operations, including recruiting, training, and mentoring team members.
5. Operations: Develop and implement operational processes and procedures to ensure high availability, scalability, and security of our applications and infrastructure.
6. Collaboration: Collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth deployment of applications and provide feedback on application design and architecture.
7. Monitoring and Logging: Develop and implement monitoring and logging strategies to ensure visibility into application and infrastructure performance.
8. Security: Ensure that our cloud infrastructure and applications are secure, compliant with industry standards, and meet regulatory requirements.
9. Cost Optimization: Optimize cloud costs and ensure that our infrastructure is running efficiently and effectively.
10. Documentation: Develop and maintain documentation on our cloud infrastructure, release management processes, and operational procedures.
Requirements:
1. Technical Expertise: 5+ years of experience in cloud computing, with a focus on Kubernetes and containerization.
2. Leadership Experience: 2+ years of experience in building and managing high-performing teams.
3. Cloud Platforms: Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
4. Kubernetes: Experience with Kubernetes, including cluster management, deployment strategies, and troubleshooting.
5. Release Management: Experience with release management tools and processes, such as GitOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment.
6. Operations: Experience with operational processes and procedures, including monitoring, logging, and security.
7. Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
8. Collaboration: Experience collaborating with development teams and other stakeholders to ensure smooth deployment of applications.
9. Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
10. Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing technical requirements and priorities.
Nice to Have:
1. Certifications: Kubernetes certifications, such as CKA or CKAD.
2. Cloud Certifications: Cloud certifications, such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or GCP Certified Professional Cloud Developer.
3. Experience with other cloud-native technologies: Experience with other cloud-native technologies, such as serverless computing, service mesh, or cloud-native databases.
4. Experience with agile development methodologies: Experience with agile development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban.
