The Role

FocusKPI is an AI consulting team helping companies design and build custom AI agent solutions. We're looking for a full-time Business Operations Intern to jump into the work — running outreach campaigns, following up with leads, and keeping our client relationships strong.

No heavy experience required. What matters is that you're curious, fast-moving, and genuinely excited about AI.

This isn't a coffee-fetching internship. You'll be doing real work — writing real emails, running real campaigns, and talking to real clients. If you want to learn what it feels like to work inside an AI-focused startup and actually contribute from day one — this is for you.

What You'll Actually Do
  • Run targeted outreach campaigns to companies exploring AI adoption — sequences, follow-ups, and replies to prospects
  • Support client onboarding onto AI tools (like Qurio) — scheduling, coordinating access, and tracking who's set up and active
  • Draft client-facing communications: meeting recaps, status updates, check-in emails, and project summaries using AI tools
  • Own all follow-ups — no lead goes cold, no client gets left waiting
  • Track active AI implementation engagements — know what's in progress, what's blocked, and what's next
  • Create and schedule content for LinkedIn and other channels — posts and updates around AI agent use cases to support outbound campaigns
  • Produce inbound content — thought leadership articles, case studies, and blog posts that showcase FocusKPI's AI work and attract inbound leads
  • Use AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or whatever works best) to automate repetitive tasks across research, writing, and ops workflows
What We're Looking For
  • You actually use AI in your daily work — real shortcuts that save real time, not just a ChatGPT tab you sometimes open
  • You understand what AI agents are and how they're being applied — you don't need to build them, but you should be able to talk about them intelligently with clients
  • Strong written English — you'll be writing client-facing emails, recaps, and updates from day one
  • Organized and proactive — you track your own tasks, follow up without being told, and nothing falls through the cracks
  • You move fast and adjust — you don't overthink before acting, and you course-correct quickly when something isn't working
  • Comfortable with ambiguity — priorities shift in a fast-moving startup; you adapt without needing everything spelled out
  • College student or recent grad — curiosity and hustle matter far more than credentials or years of experience
What You'll Get
  • $2,000–$3,000/month depending on experience (full-time)
  • Real exposure to AI consulting projects and live client work
  • Front-row seat to how AI agents are actually being built and deployed across industries
  • Direct mentorship from a fast-moving team
Screening Questions

Please include your answers to both questions in your application:

1. Your outreach sequence gets zero replies after 2 weeks. Walk us through exactly what you do.

2. We build AI agents for clients — so tell us what you actually think about them. What's one thing AI agents are genuinely good at, and one place where they still fall short? Give us a real example for each — something you personally saw or tried, not something you read about.

How to Apply

Email [email protected] with the subject line: BizOps Intern Application – [Your Name]

Include:

  • Your resume
  • A cover letter sharing how you've used AI tools in your daily life or work — be specific, real examples only
  • Your answers to both screening questions above

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
