Position Summary

Focus Partners Wealth is seeking motivated students for the position of Advisory Team Associate (ATA) intern on our wealth management teams. The ATA intern role is an exciting opportunity to join a planning-centric team dedicated to delivering personalized wealth advice aligned with each client’s unique goals and aspirations. This role plays a key part in supporting the overall advisory experience, partnering closely with Associate Wealth Advisors and fellow team members. ATA interns gain meaningful hands-on experience and build a strong foundation in core financial planning skills within a collaborative, client-focused environment.

Interns who demonstrate exceptional performance may be considered early for a full-time position following graduation.

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Support the advisory team by assisting with financial plan drafting, meeting preparation, note‑taking, and follow‑up tasks in the CRM.
  • Learn core financial planning concepts, including investments, insurance, taxation, estate planning, and portfolio components, while conducting basic research and analysis.
  • Support team activities by observing workflows, participating in internal meetings, and assisting with communications, service requests, and cross‑team coordination as needed.
  • Gain proficiency with the firm’s technology stack, planning software, and custodian platforms, helping maintain accurate data and workflow processes.
  • Contribute to administrative tasks, billing support, compliance processes, and cross‑functional projects that enhance the overall advisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current students pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree from a CFP Board Registered Program.
  • Expected graduation date between December 2026 and Spring 2027.
  • Successfully complete assessments within 5 days of receiving the link.
  • Ability to work and commute out of FPW's Boston office; relocation assistance is not provided.
  • Candidates must have permanent authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Interest in financial planning and the internal operations of a wealth management firm.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word); comfortable learning new systems.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Team-orientated approach.
  • Knowledge of financial industry, financial products, and financial planning concepts.

This position is a non-exempt position. The base pay for this role is expected to be $20/hr. Actual base pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed, and the applicant’s skill set. Please note that the job title is subject to change based on the selected candidate’s experience and education.
