Performs complex general ledger accounting and financial reporting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, fixed assets, leases, accruals, variance analysis, and internal controls testing. Ensures GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, researches revenue and expenses, leads process improvement and regulatory initiatives, and coaches junior professionals. The role requires strong analytical, communication, accounting, and financial reporting skills.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsible for highly complex accounting activities supporting the accurate and timely close of the general ledger. Problems faced are difficult and often complex.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for highly complex accounting activities supporting the accurate and timely close of the general ledger
- Prepares and post journal entries, account reconciliations, fixed asset processing, lease/contract review, accrual entries, and/or budget variance reviews
- Researches and analysis of assigned large elements of revenue and expense and the related internal/external reporting
- Ensures general ledger account balances are materially correct in compliance with internal controls and GAAP and that Internal control risks are tested and documented in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley
- Leads internal and cross functional teams on major initiatives/projects including: process improvement, regulatory compliance/changes and policy recommending innovative solutions. Coaches, reviews and delegates work to lower level professionals
- Complies with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or other related quantitative discipline is required. Related experience may offset degree requirements and related education/degree may offset experience requirements.
- Five (5) years experience in accounting and financial reporting.
- Excellent analytical and financial analysis skills required.
- Outstanding knowledge of business software, spreadsheet applications and/or mainframe or web-based applications.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills including presentation skills

Accounting background is preferred;
CPA (active or in-process) is not necessarily required but would be preferred. Experience in data analytics, automation or AI is preferred.
