Job Responsibilities:
Mission of Position:
The Advanced Quality Engineer (AQE) for Driveline Systems (DS) NA will lead and take ownership of Advanced Quality Product Development of powertrain products, with a strong focus on coordination of cross functional teams to develop and implement customer specific requirements, proactively executed according to program timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Participates in SOR reviews with Customer and comprehends requirements to cascade and develop internal processes
  • Develops quality plans to meet customer specific requirements
  • Supports the quality of new program launches through collaboration of the program management and manufacturing facilities
  • Involvement in problem solving, root cause analysis, developing corrective actions, inspections, SPC, and working with internal/external customers as needed
  • Functions as the leader for Advanced Quality on Program Teams and ensures quality issues are resolved prior to launch of product (ensure mature quality at launch)
  • Oversees and leads cross functional teams through the development of Process Flow Diagrams, Process Control Plans, and other Quality-related documentation
  • Key participant on cross-functional team developing Design and Process FMEAs
  • Works with manufacturing plant and machine tool builders to develop capable manufacturing processes
  • Ensures APQP and Quality-related process steps are being properly and thoroughly executed by program teams
  • Ensures identification of key product and process characteristics and deploy necessary controls to ensure specifications are met in production
  • Identifies and ensures best process and product practices are used across similar processes and products
  • Works closely with other functions and aspects of reliability such as Fault tree analysis and other risk assessment processes
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety Analysis, ISO-26262, requirements, processes, and deliverables
  • Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (TS 16949, ISO-26262)

Customers and Business Interfaces:
  • Support of Project and Program Managers, Product Engineering, Advanced and Supplier Quality, Purchasing, Change Management along with Production Site (Launch Managers, Manufacturing and Process Engineers)
  • Production Component and Equipment Suppliers
  • Direct interface with Customers and ability to work at a high level in Customer environment

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong leader with effective written and verbal communication skills who will drive processes and resolve issues.
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in APQP Process AIAG /VDA
  • 5 - 10 Quality Engineering experience
  • 5+ years of experience in Plant Operations
  • Experience in the following commodities a plus (Aluminum Castings, Electronics, Stampings, Machining, Heat Treat, Assembly Experience)
  • Software Experience a Plus
  • CQE certification a Plus
  • Experience in Electrification Powertrain Products a plus
  • Working knowledge of PFMEA (APIS), QS / ISO / TS / IATF, GD&T, APQP and PPAP
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Project and Minitab is a plus
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills, Spanish is a plus
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills (8D, Shainin or Six Sigma training a plus)
  • Self-motivated, team player with the ability to lead a team

Work Environment:
Office Environment: 70%
  • The employee must be able to tolerate sitting for extended periods of time.
  • It requires near, far, depth, and color vision to tolerate the eye strain associated with working on a computer throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to tolerate the use of a keyboard and mouse for an average of 6 hours per workday.

Plant Environment / Ability to Travel: 30%
  • While working in the plant environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes, and various levels of temperature created by the manufacturing process.
  • Flexible with the ability to travel globally.
