The NCDA&CS Agronomic Services Division provides statewide diagnostic and advisory services that increase agricultural productivity, promote responsible land management, and safeguard environmental quality. The Division is comprised of three laboratory sections and a field services section with a combined total of 61 full-time employees. The Agronomic Division maintains a very active, employee-led safety program and is recognized as a Public-Sector Star site by the NC Department of Labor.
The division is currently offering a great opportunity to join its administration team.
As an Administrative Specialist I you will report directly to the Administrative Officer I for the Agronomic Division and work with a team of six employees. In this role, you will:
• Support the Administrative Officer I as related to human resource hiring information and actions
• Support the Administrative Officer I as related to procurement and purchasing
• Provide inventory management of division vehicles, office supplies, and computers/copiers, scanners, etc.
• Communicate with clients (phone, email, face-to-face) to help them access reports via the division’s public portal (PALS), complete online submissions and find information on our website. Based on these interactions, you will relay feedback from clients to our Webmaster for improvements.
In addition, the employee has safety management responsibilities to help support the Agronomic Division’s Public Sector Star Safety Program.

Recruitment Range- $39,244-$48,000


  • Communicates clearly and accurately in both spoken and written formats; writes clearly and effectively, adjusting language to meet audience needs and using proper grammar and structure.
  • Experienced in office management tasks, including organizing information, maintaining records, analyzing data, and using office equipment and software.
  • Experience in human resources and purchasing procedures
  • Experience leading and working in a team environment to achieve shared goals.
  • Experience working with Workday, NC E-procurement, Excel spreadsheets.
