About SafeLease

At SafeLease, we're rethinking how P&C insurance is sold in an age of technological change. We believe the industry's biggest inefficiencies aren't technical problems — they're structural ones. And we're building the team to tackle them.

SafeLease is a profitable insurance business that designs, underwrites, and distributes specialty coverage for commercial property owners and their tenants. Most insurance companies either distribute products or bear the risk — we do both. We back our policies with our own capital, which means we control the full stack: product design, tech, and the speed at which we move. That end-to-end ownership lets us offer customers real flexibility, saving time and money for more than 4,000 properties insured for billions in value nationwide.

We're a team of 70, growing over 100% annually, and we've done it without sacrificing profitability or culture. Here, you'll get high discretion and a wide aperture of problems to solve. We embrace the newest technologies, move fast together, and operate with the intensity of a small company where every person's work is visible. If you're looking for a place to sharpen your craft alongside people who take their work seriously, you'll fit right in.

Position Overview

We are seeking an Actuarial Analyst to support the development, pricing, and ongoing performance management of our insurance products. This role partners closely with underwriting, product, and finance teams to analyze risk, evaluate product profitability, and support data-driven decisions across the insurance lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has a strong analytical foundation, an interest in insurance products and markets, and the ability to translate complex actuarial insights into clear business recommendations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pricing and rating analyses for insurance products, including new product development and rate revisions

  • Analyze loss experience, trends, and profitability by product, coverage, and segment

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of pricing models, assumptions, and methodologies

  • Evaluate underwriting guidelines and risk selection strategies using actuarial and statistical techniques

  • Monitor product performance and identify emerging risks or opportunities

  • Prepare exhibits, reports, and presentations for internal stakeholders and leadership

  • Collaborate with underwriting, claims, finance, and product teams to support strategic initiatives

  • Support regulatory filings and documentation related to rates and product changes, as applicable

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative field

  • 1–3 years of actuarial or analytical experience in insurance (entry-level candidates with strong internships considered)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

  • One to three actuarial exams passed, including at least one CAS exam (preferably Exam P or Exam FM)

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including building and maintaining analytical models, tools, and pricing templates

  • Ability to communicate actuarial analyses clearly in written and verbal formats

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior actuarial pricing experience, including internships or full-time actuarial roles

    • Experience supporting rate filings, including preparation of exhibits, documentation, or regulatory responses

  • Experience working with P&C or specialty insurance products

  • Exposure to pricing, product development, or underwriting analytics

  • Familiarity with insurance data structures and loss development concepts

  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with SQL, R, Python, or similar tools is a plus
