Modern Milkman is transforming the way America shops for groceries—one doorstep at a time. From our roots in the UK to our rapid expansion across the U.S., we’re building a cleaner, smarter grocery model by connecting households to high-quality, farm-fresh products delivered sustainably in returnable packaging.

Since entering the U.S. market, we’ve grown our U.S. business 4.5x and expanded beyond Connecticut into Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New York. We’ve recently opened new hubs in Danbury, CT and North Attleboro, MA and completed a strategic acquisition in Ohio, unlocking access to key Midwest markets like Cleveland and Akron.

As a certified B-Corp, we’re not just focused on growth—we’re focused on impact. In 2024, we saved over 100 million plastic bottles and introduced lower-emission e-bike deliveries.

Our mission is bold: to make convenience sustainable. With the U.S. on a rapid growth trajectory, this is a unique opportunity for a talented finance professional to become a founding member of our U.S. HQ team in Boston.

You’ll be hands-on with payroll and month-end support, while maintaining strong oversight on our AP ledger.

This role is perfect for someone detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable owning finance ops functions in a fast-paced scale-up environment. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring our financial engine runs smoothly while we scale across the US.

  • Maintain and reconcile supplier ledgers monthly
  • Review, approve, and monitor AP transactions prepared by offshore team
  • Manage vendor relationships, onboarding, and dispute resolution
  • Support month-end close: prepare payroll journals, reconcile AP and payroll balances, and liaise with the Controller
  • Support audit prep, compliance tasks, and process improvements
  • Ensure all tasks are completed in line with financial controls and company policies

What You’ll Bring 💡

  • 3+ years’ experience in finance ops, bookkeeping, or accounting
  • Hands-on U.S. payroll processing experience is essential
  • Familiarity with AP oversight. Working with offshore teams is a plus
  • Strong systems experience: QuickBooks, Bill.com & Ramp is our current stack
  • Meticulous attention to detail, accuracy, and data integrity
  • Able to work autonomously and manage time across 2 to 3 days/week
  • Clear communicator and strong collaborator with international teams
  • A continuous improvement mindset and proactive approach to problem-solving

Benefits 🎁

  • Flexible 2 to 3 Days workweek schedule negotiable
  • Competitive part-time salary ($50k–$65k pro-rated for 2 to 3 days/week)
  • Equity options in a growing, mission-driven scale-up
  • Employee discount on Modern Milkman products
  • In-person company events
  • Paid time off (18 days pro-rated) + 11 federal holidays + 1 birthday day + 1 volunteering day
  • (medical, 401(k) match, parental leave, and more).
