About The Role

OpenLoop is looking for an Accounting Manager to join our team remotely or onsite at our HQ in Des Moines, IA.  In this role, you will be a key member of the finance/accounting team playing a hands-on role in building scalable accounting processes while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced startup environment, is highly autonomous, and balances speed with quality.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own and manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
  • Support GAAP-compliant financial reporting and assist with technical accounting matters
  • Partner with FP&A, Operations, and cross-functional teams to provide financial insights
  • Manage and develop a small team of direct reports, providing guidance, review, and coaching
  • Assist with external audits, tax filings, and interactions with outside accounting firms
  • Help design, document, and improve scalable accounting processes and internal controls
  • Support system implementations and improvements (ERP, billing, expense tools, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with relevant healthcare and regulatory requirements as applicable
  • Other duties as assigned
Who You Are:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field
  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience
    • 2+ years of that experience to include coaching and managing others
  • Big 4 public accounting experience highly preferred
  • Startup or high-growth company experience highly preferred
  • Exposure to pre-IPO readiness, including SOX, audit readiness, highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing junior accountants and their work
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and move quickly without sacrificing accuracy
  • Experience with managing competing priorities, and shifting smoothly to support business needs
  • Comfortable operating in a high-growth, evolving startup environment
  • Excellent communicator skills, with attention to detail
  • CPA is highly preferred
