Forbes Media seeks an ambitious Account Manager with a successful track record of nurturing and growing client relationships through a comprehensive understanding of client’s short and long-term strategy and high-level goals. Account Managers are responsible for overseeing client accounts once an Integrated Sales Lead has closed the business. They serve as the primary point of contact for clients, and work with this group for the entire length of time that they partner with Forbes to help achieve the client’s goals and represent Forbes in non-support customer interactions. Program Managers, content leads, ad ops analysts and other internal teams will also work on the execution and rollout of specific campaigns, but it is the Account Manager’s job to understand how each individual campaign fits into the larger account strategy. Reporting to our Executive Director, Strategic Partnerships & Account Management, the Account Manager is primarily responsible for developing, implementing and managing Forbes' integrated advertising strategy, both from a business development and a sales perspective. This is a hybrid position requiring a regular weekly presence at our Jersey City office.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage client relationships, expectations and long-term multi-platform programs utilizing one's knowledge of multiple media channels.
  • Build and maintain deep relationships with current/prospective clients and provide exceptional client support.
  • Work effectively with Sales Directors, Sales Planners and other supporting teams to seamlessly implement programs, execute campaigns and deliver strong results.
  • Take the lead on client calls and e-mail correspondence
  • Develop client facing materials for post-sale meetings and calls including comprehensive call agendas, campaign reports and recaps, proactive sales opportunities and renewal concepts
  • Extensive knowledge of Forbes’ product lines, including Forbes.com, Forbes Magazine, Forbes BrandVoice native advertising platform, and Forbes Live Events while possessing the authority to articulate their value and ability to meet client objectives
  • Seek opportunities to strategically upsell and grow accounts
  • Demonstrate outstanding organization, preparation, and public speaking abilities.

The ideal candidate:

  • 3-5 years of experience working in media
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding revenue goals
  • Ability to think and plan strategically
  • Demonstrate knowledge in wide variety of advertising concepts, practices and procedures
  • Experience in a client facing role and confidence in leading client conversations
  • Efficient communication skills
  • Quantitative analytical skills
  • Intelligence, positive attitude, enthusiasm, highly motivated and sense of humor
  • Capable of working on a team and with several supporting, post-sale teams
  • Strong ability to multitask with the capacity to work on several accounts at once
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to succeed in a competitive selling environment
  • BA/BS degree

The annual base salary range for this role is $80,000 - $85,000

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
