The Account Manager, Annuities Distribution, is responsible for managing and growing relationships with assigned Independent Marketing Organizations (IMOs) that distribute fixed, indexed, and variable annuity products. This role serves as the primary liaison between the firm and its IMO partners, ensuring strong engagement, effective issue resolution, and execution of annuity-focused sales and growth initiatives. The Account Manager partners closely with internal wholesaling, product, operations, and compliance teams to drive profitable annuity growth while supporting a high-quality producer experience.
IMO & Annuity Partner Management
- Manage day-to-day relationships with assigned IMOs and key principals focused on annuity distribution
- Develop deep understanding of each IMO’s annuity strategy, producer mix, and sales focus (e.g., FIA, MYGA, Other products)
- Build trusted, consultative relationships that position the firm as a preferred annuity carrier
Annuity Sales Support & Growth Enablement
- Support IMO‑led annuity sales initiatives, including product positioning, rate and feature updates, and sales campaigns
- Coordinate with internal wholesalers to align IMO efforts with field sales priorities
- Identify production trends, growth opportunities, and at-risk relationships within annuity lines
- Support rollout of new annuity products, riders, crediting strategies, and pricing updates
Producer & Case Support
- Act as an escalation point for annuity case issues, including new business processing, suitability reviews, underwriting coordination, and policy issuance
- Partner with operations and new business teams to improve annuity cycle times and producer satisfaction
- Ensure IMOs and producers understand annuity processes, requirements, and expectations
Communication & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Serve as the central coordination point between IMOs and internal teams (sales, product, operations, compliance, technology)
- Communicate annuity-specific updates such as rate changes, product enhancements, underwriting requirements, and system changes
- Support IMO business reviews, annuity planning sessions, and strategic growth discussions
Compliance & Risk Awareness
- Ensure annuity distribution activities align with regulatory requirements (e.g., suitability/best interest standards) and firm policies
- Partner with compliance and legal teams on annuity-related questions or escalations
- Reinforce compliant, ethical annuity sales practices across IMO and producer relationships
Reporting & Business Insights
- Track annuity production, trends, persistency indicators, and partner engagement metrics
- Prepare relationship and production summaries for sales leadership
- Use insights to recommend actions that improve annuity growth, mix, and partner performance
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Related Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in annuity distribution, insurance, or retirement financial services
- Direct experience working with IMOs, BGAs, or similar third-party annuity distribution partners
- Strong knowledge of fixed, indexed, and/or variable annuity products
- Proven relationship management and issue‑resolution skills
- Experience supporting annuity new business, underwriting, or operations, preferred
- Familiarity with annuity suitability, best interest, and regulatory requirements, preferred
- Experience partnering with wholesalers and field sales organizations, preferred
- CRM experience (e.g., Salesforce), preferred
Ability to Travel: Up to 50%
