What is Spade?

Financial institutions process billions of transactions every day across cards, ACH, wires, and third party aggregators. But most of that data is difficult to use. Descriptions are inconsistent, merchant names don’t match, and categories vary by payment type.

Spade is a data and AI platform that turns messy transaction strings into structured, verified records — and gives teams the tools to act on it across authorization, attribution, analytics, and AI initiatives. Spade leads the market in terms of merchant coverage, matching accuracy, geolocation data, and speed of transaction enrichment. Customers such as, FIS, Bilt, Mercury, Stripe, alongside many other leaders in fintech and financial services, trust Spade's data to enable personalized rewards programs, accurate applied spending rules, precise analytics requests, and innovative AI-powered features.

Spade is a fast growing, Series B company backed by industry experts and top tier investors (including Oak HC/FT, a16z, Flourish Ventures, Y-Combinator, and Gradient Ventures). We’re a lean and execution-oriented hybrid team, passionate about building exceptional products for our growing customer base. We care deeply about diversity of background, experience, and opinion. We value empathy, curiosity, and passion, and strive to create an environment where individuals have autonomy and the ability to take ownership over their work.

What will you be doing?

As an Account Manager at Spade, you'll contribute directly to Spade’s revenue growth by owning the strategic relationships and growth trajectory for our enterprise customers. You'll manage implementations, drive product adoption and expansion, and build deep partnerships with the world’s leading financial institutions. You will:

  • Own 5-10 major enterprise customer relationships ($2-5MM total ARR) from signature through renewal and expansion, serving as primary point of contact and trusted advisor

  • Build VP and C-suite relationships at each customer — mapping their roadmap, org, and strategic priorities — and run the QBRs, executive briefings, and onsites that move relationships forward

  • Lead renewals and multi-year pricing negotiations, including over-utilization, scope changes, and contract restructures, structuring complex deals across legal, procurement, and technical teams on both sides

  • Drive expansion by spotting opportunities and selling customers into new Spade products, owning the full deal cycle from discovery to close

  • Act as the customer's voice internally — partnering with engineering, product, and SEs on technical investigations, and translating findings and feedback into prioritized roadmap asks and VOC briefs

  • Partner with Sales pre-signature and Solutions Engineering post-signature to ensure clean handoffs and successful implementations on technically complex accounts

What experience, skills, and qualifications are necessary?
  • 7+ years of experience, including 5+ years of account management or account executive experience for a technical product carrying a quota with responsibility for account growth, upsells, and renewals

  • Proven ownership of commercial outcomes (quota, NRR target, or revenue retention number) on a book of enterprise accounts, ideally in the $500K-$2M ACV range per contract

  • Experience owning enterprise deals and relationships, partnering with executive level stakeholders, and leading multi-year, multi-product enterprise contract negotiations, including MSA/procurement/legal terms

  • Comfort using AI, automation, and self-built workflows to scale yourself

  • Based in NYC with ability to work out of our Flatiron office at least 2 days/week

Nice to have
  • Experience with transaction or payments data

  • Experience with API or data products

  • Experience building post-sales playbooks, SOPs, or operating frameworks from scratch
