Reports to: Director of Digital Merchandising & Strategy
Location: Remote (Canada) / Remote (United States)

About the role:

As our Account Executive, you will sit at the center of One Kings Lane's revenue engine — owning high-touch customer relationships, driving conversion, and ensuring a seamless end-to-end buying experience. This role exists to turn inbound interest into closed sales and long-term client loyalty, and your success at six to twelve months will be measured by revenue contribution, repeat business, and conversion rate improvement across both retail and trade clients.

You will partner closely with merchandising, marketing, operations, and customer experience to deliver exceptional service. You will guide customers through product selection, custom orders, pricing discussions, and project-based needs — balancing responsiveness with proactive outreach to drive incremental revenue. Beyond daily execution, you will leverage CRM tools, automation workflows, and AI-driven insights to prioritize opportunities and improve follow-up discipline.

This is a lean team. You will own a lot, move fast, and make decisions with full end-to-end responsibility.

What You'll do:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for inbound customer inquiries, purchase calls, and product questions related to One Kings Lane's furniture and collections.
  • Guide customers through the buying process by providing expert product knowledge, design-forward recommendations, and comparisons that help close sales.
  • Support trade clients, interior designers, and high-value customers with personalized service and project-based needs.
  • Manage custom orders, special pricing requests, and order status updates to deliver a seamless end-to-end customer experience.
  • Proactively follow up on inbound leads, abandoned quotes, and past purchasers to drive repeat business and incremental revenue.
  • Conduct targeted outbound outreach to nurture relationships, re-engage customers, and upsell or cross-sell complementary products.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve processes through automation, AI-assisted follow-ups, and data-driven customer segmentation.
  • Coordinate with operations and logistics to track priority orders, resolve delivery questions, and escalate issues or claims as needed.
  • Leverage CRM tools, automation workflows, and AI-driven insights to prioritize outreach, identify high-intent customers, and increase conversion efficiency.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to build trust quickly and convert inbound customer interest into closed sales.
  • Strong consultative selling and communication skills, with a customer-first mindset and attention to detail.
  • Experience handling custom orders, pricing discussions, and complex product questions.
  • A proactive approach to driving revenue through follow-ups, outreach, and relationship management.
  • Comfort working cross-functionally with marketing, operations, and logistics teams to resolve issues and improve outcomes.
  • Experience using CRM tools to track customer interactions, manage pipelines, and prioritize outreach.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted sales tools, workflow automation, or data-driven prospecting strategies to enhance productivity and customer engagement.
  • An interest in furniture, design, or home furnishings, with the ability to translate product features into customer value.

Why Join

The people who do best here are builders. They take ownership, move fast, and want to see the direct impact of their work.
  • Impact and Visibility: You will own a real revenue line at One Kings Lane, with direct visibility into how your outreach, follow-up, and client relationships drive business outcomes — your work shows up in the numbers every week.
  • Growth and Learning: You will develop deep expertise in consultative sales, design-forward product positioning, and AI-assisted selling tools — skills that are transferable and increasingly valuable across the industry.
  • Ownership and Autonomy: This is not a scripted role. You will manage your own pipeline, make judgment calls on customer experience, and take end-to-end accountability for your accounts without layers of approval slowing you down.
  • Competitive Benefits (Canada): Paid time off policies, RRSP match, medical, dental, and vision coverage, a variety of supplemental benefit options, and employee discounts across our portfolio of brands.

Interview Process

    1. Recruiter Screen: A 30-minute conversation to learn about your background, walk you through the role, and answer your questions about One Kings Lane and the team.
    2. Hiring Manager Interview: A deeper conversation with the CFO focused on your sales approach, client relationship experience, and how you drive revenue outcomes.
    3. Skills Assessment: A short, practical exercise — such as a sales scenario or mock customer interaction — to see how you approach consultative selling and product recommendations.
    4. Final Interview: A conversation with cross-functional leadership focused on collaboration, process thinking, and cultural fit.
    5. Reference Checks: Conducted in parallel with the final stages where possible.
    6. Offer: We move quickly for the right candidate.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
