In this role, you will identify prospective customers, understand their communication access and business needs, and manage opportunities throughout the sales process - from initial outreach and discovery through presentation, negotiation, contract execution, and a seamless handoff to the Partner Success Manager.

Success in this role requires identifying organizations whose communication access needs are well aligned with Convo's solutions, building long-term partnerships that deliver meaningful value for customers while supporting Convo's continued growth. We are looking for someone who brings initiative, a consultative approach to sales, strong relationship-building skills, sound judgment, and consistent follow-through while representing Convo's mission and values with professionalism and authenticity.

What you'll do

Business Development & Sales

  • Identify and pursue qualified business opportunities through outbound outreach, referrals, networking, industry events, social media, and existing customer networks, with a focus on organizations whose communication needs align with Convo's core interpreting and accessibility services.
  • Develop and maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified sales opportunities through prospecting, market research, and relationship building.
  • Lead discovery conversations to understand customer goals, accessibility needs, communication workflows, utilization expectations, purchasing requirements, and business challenges in order to recommend the most appropriate Convo solutions.
  • Manage the full sales cycle by delivering product demonstrations, presentations, proposals, negotiating agreements, and recommending solutions that align customer needs with Convo's products and services.
  • Achieve established sales, revenue, pipeline, and activity goals.

Customer & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective customers throughout the sales process and ensure a successful transition to the Partner Success Manager following contract execution.
  • Collaborate with the Partner Success Manager to support implementation planning and identify renewal or expansion opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Coordinate with Customer Success, Support, Product, Marketing, and other internal teams to deliver a consistent customer experience.
  • Gather customer and market feedback to help improve products, services, and sales strategies.

Sales Operations & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate customer, opportunity, and contract information within the company's CRM.
  • Prepare pipeline updates, forecasts, activity reports, and other sales reporting.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Convo's products, services, pricing, and customer resources.

Company & Community Representation

  • Represent Convo at conferences, trade shows, customer meetings, networking opportunities, and community events as needed.
  • Communicate Convo’s mission and commitment to accessible communication in a credible, informed, and culturally respectful manner.
  • Build relationships with organizations and communities that may benefit from Convo’s products and services.
  • Foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in everyday practices and customer interactions.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional sales, business development, or account management experience.
  • Experience managing a B2B sales process from prospecting and discovery through negotiation and close.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new business opportunities and build lasting customer relationships.
  • Experience conducting customer meetings, presentations, product demonstrations, and contract discussions.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to understand customer needs and clearly communicate the value of products and services.
  • Experience using a CRM platform such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or a similar system.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities, customers, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise initiative, and maintain accountability for assigned goals.

  • Ability to handle customer, contractual, financial, and organizational information with appropriate confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Fluency in American Sign Language, and lived, professional, or community experience within the Deaf and/or hard of hearing community.

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
