About the Role
Quartzy is seeking a Field Account Executive (Boston Metro Area) to drive new business growth by acquiring and closing new SaaS customers. This is a hunter role focused exclusively on landing new logos in the Boston life sciences ecosystem.

You’ll prospect, qualify, and close new SaaS accounts, helping researchers, lab managers, and finance teams streamline their operations with Quartzy’s lab management software. Once closed, new customers transition to an Account Manager for expansion and e-commerce adoption freeing you to stay focused on net-new SaaS ARR.

This role is based in the Boston Metro Area and requires frequent in-person meetings across biotech hubs You may also be required to go to events/conferences once a quarter outside Boston.

About You
You’re a proactive SaaS hunter with a proven track record of closing new business. You thrive on building pipeline from scratch, running consultative sales cycles, and positioning software as a mission-critical solution. You bring discipline, urgency, and credibility in conversations with both scientists and business stakeholders.

If you’re looking for an opportunity where you can make a direct impact, be part of a high-energy team, and help drive growth in the life sciences industry, this is the role for you.

Why Quartzy

Quartzy is the world’s #1 lab management platform. Every day, hundreds of thousands of scientists from all over the world improve the efficiency of their research by using Quartzy. Our software combines lab resource management and eCommerce, producing unique value in this large market, returning time to researchers who can focus on their next discoveries. Our customers range from wine makers, to food/ag companies, to companies working on COVID testing and therapies. We are humbled every day to serve them.

What You'll Do

  • New Business Acquisition – Identify, prospect, and close new SaaS accounts in the Boston Metro Area life sciences market.
  • Full SaaS Sales Cycle – Own the end-to-end process: outreach, discovery, demo, ROI positioning, negotiation, and close.
  • Consultative Selling – Understand customer workflows and pain points, then map Quartzy’s software to their needs.
  • Pipeline Development – Maintain a healthy pipeline through cold outreach, networking in biotech clusters, referrals, and event presence.
  • Territory Coverage – Build a repeatable coverage model for biotech hubs.
  • Collaboration – Partner with marketing, sales development, and account management to ensure seamless handoffs and customer success.
  • Market Insights – Stay plugged into biotech/academic trends and use insights to sharpen targeting and messaging.

What We're Looking For:

  • 3+ years of SaaS hunter experience (closing net-new ARR, ideally Mid-Market/SMB).
  • Based in the Boston Metro Area with ability to visit  local prospects on a frequent basis
  • Proven track record of achieving/overachieving quota in new-logo acquisition.
  • Strong consultative and value-based selling skills; ability to run structured SaaS demos and ROI discussions.
  • Ability to sell across multiple buyer personas (example: scientists, lab managers, finance/procurement).
  • Strong communicator who can engage decision-makers at all levels.
  • CRM discipline (Salesforce or equivalent) and data-driven pipeline management.
  • Familiarity with biotech/academic research environments (inventory, procurement, SDS, QuickBooks/NetSuite) preferred but not necessary for the right candidate.

What We Offer

  • Meaningful Work - Directly enable scientific discovery across biotech, pharma, and academia.
  • Remote-First Flexibility - Work from almost anywhere with autonomy and accountability.
  • Profitable & Growing - A stable, scaling business with clear long-term opportunity.
  • Support & Benefits - Competitive benefits and flexible time off to recharge.
  • Transparency & Trust - Weekly all company stand ups, monthly town halls, and anytime access to co-founders.
  • Team & Culture - Smart, mission-driven colleagues who value collaboration, accountability, and high performance.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
