Own the full new-business sales cycle for mid-size K-12 school districts, from self-sourced prospecting and qualification through discovery, demos, proposals, and closing. Generate pipeline through cold outreach, conferences, networking, referrals, and AI-assisted tools. Navigate multiple district stakeholders, meet activity targets, maintain Salesforce hygiene, and hand off closed customers to Customer Success. The role requires outbound B2B sales experience, public-sector or K-12 selling expertise, and independent full-cycle deal management.

Account Executive, New Business — Mid-Size Districts
Daybreak Health | 100% Remote | Full-time

About the role
Pure new-logo, outside sales. You generate your own pipeline and you close it. No renewals, no upsell book. Roughly 40% prospecting, 60% running deals end to end. You'll sell into school districts with 2,000–5,000 students across Daybreak's eight active states, where we already have signed partnerships and referenceable outcomes.

About Daybreak Health

Daybreak partners with school districts to make sure any student who needs mental health care can actually get it. The gap we're closing is real: the recommended ratio is one school psychologist per 500 students, and the national reality is closer to one per 1,200, which means families wait months while counselors carry impossible caseloads. We match every student to a clinician based on language, culture, identity, and what they're actually working through, usually starting care within a week or two of a referral and at no cost to the family. It works. 81% of students improve on standardized clinical measures, 92% of families report meaningful behavioral change at home, and 80% of school staff see better attendance, grades, and behavior. We're backed by Union Square Ventures, Lux Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Maven Ventures, and Y Combinator, and we already serve districts representing more than a million students. That still leaves most of the country without an answer, which is exactly where this role comes in.

What you'll do

  • Self-source the large majority of your pipeline through cold outreach, regional conferences, cabinet-level networking, and referrals from current district partners
  • Hit weekly and monthly activity targets on calls, emails, sequences, and conference touches
  • Partner with Marketing's lead-gen motion, including AI-assisted outbound tools, to turn sourced leads into qualified meetings
  • Run every deal solo: discovery, demo, proposal, close, ideally under 30 days
  • Navigate Superintendents, Student Services Directors, and Special Education and Mental Health leaders
  • Hand off closed-won districts to CSM activation-ready with a clean transition brief

Skills

  • Outbound prospecting and pipeline generation
  • Full-cycle closing (discovery through contract)
  • Public sector and K-12 district selling
  • Multi-stakeholder navigation
  • Salesforce and CRM hygiene
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Practical use of AI tools for personal productivity

Who thrives here

  • Genuinely likes prospecting as much as closing
  • Self-directed and comfortable owning your own number without hand-holding
  • High activity tolerance, steady week over week
  • Resilient with cold outreach and long silences
  • Mission-driven about student mental health
  • Coachable and willing to share what works with the team

Qualifications
Must-haves

  • 3–6+ years of outbound B2B sales with a track record of self-sourced pipeline
  • Experience selling into K-12 districts or comparable public-sector buyers
  • Comfort with faster, less-layered mid-size district cycles
  • Confident running discovery and demos solo
  • Salesforce proficiency

Nice-to-haves

  • Built or improved a prospecting playbook other reps adopted
  • Existing relationships with Superintendents, Cabinet, or Student Services leaders in our active states
  • Familiarity with Title IV, IDEA, Medicaid, and state mental health funding and how they shape buying timelines
  • High-growth startup experience on a lean, metrics-driven GTM team

$120,000$180,000 USD

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
