Who We Are Looking For

We're selling something almost nobody else on earth is selling: domestically produced, zero-waste rare earth and critical materials, into supply chains that desperately need an alternative to foreign sourcing. There's no playbook sitting on a shelf for this. No competitor's CRM to poach best practices from. No ZoomInfo subscription doing the prospecting for you.

That's exactly why this role exists.

We're looking for a Strategic Account Manager - someone who can identify the right accounts in materials-hungry industries (automotive, industrial manufacturing, and beyond), get creative about finding the humans who make buying decisions there, and then navigate the genuinely complex, multi-stakeholder sale it takes to land a contract that might run into thousands of tons of material and eight or nine figures of revenue.

You'll report directly to our VP of Sales and be one of the first dedicated account owners on a commercial team that's still being built in real time. That means outsized ownership from day one, a direct hand in shaping the sales motion instead of inheriting one, and a clear growth path into managing our largest, most strategic accounts as the book matures.

Key Responsibilities

Account & Territory Mapping. Identify the highest-value accounts in target industries, figure out who actually holds buying power inside each one, and build a systematic approach to breaking in - not just working whoever picks up the phone first.

Cross-Functional Deal Navigation. Act as the connective tissue between sales, operations, and finance so that what gets sold is what we can actually deliver. You'll be the one translating “here's what the customer needs” into “here's what it takes internally to make that real.”

Pipeline & CRM Discipline. Keep your pipeline data clean and your forecasts honest, so leadership can trust what's actually in motion versus what's noise.

Growth Into Key Account Management. As our book of business matures, this role is the on-ramp into owning our largest, most strategic accounts - the kind doing eight figures a year in revenue - not a permanent hunting assignment.

Qualifications

  • Experience running a full, complex B2B sales cycle - multi-stakeholder, multi-threaded deals, not single-call transactions (materials, industrial, or enterprise sales backgrounds all welcome)
  • A genuine hunter mentality - someone who has actually built pipeline from scratch, not just worked leads that were handed to them
  • Comfort operating without premium sales tooling (no ZoomInfo here) - you know how to find people and get their attention anyway
  • Experience navigating deals that touch procurement, legal, and finance sign-off, even if the dollar amounts were smaller elsewhere — you understand the shape of that process
  • High energy, resilient, and comfortable with a fast-moving, still-being-defined environment — this isn't a place with a lot of layers or hand-holding
  • Strong CRM hygiene and pipeline discipline

We offer a competitive compensation package that is based on expertise. We also offer the following benefits:

This pay range reflects best estimate for the total cash compensation which includes salary + discretionary bonus for this role. Total package  may vary based on experience and qualifications.
Pay Range: $140,000- $200,000 total cash compensation plus equity
  • Healthcare: 100% Medical, dental, and vision coverage for employee
  • Stock Options: Ownership in a fast-growing venture-backed company.
  • Time Off: Unlimited PTO.
  • Learning: Learning and development opportunities to grow your skills and career.

At Phoenix Tailings, we have an open culture that values learning, and we are looking to grow the team with enthusiastic individuals who share our vision of sustainable mining.

Phoenix Tailings, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and we value diversity at all levels. What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
