Department Overview
WDTech is W&D’s in-house technology team – a group of collaborative and highly skilled technology professionals, all of whom are leading experts in real estate data, data science, and technology.The Impact You Will Have The Operations Analyst supports Walker & Dunlop’s enterprise technology strategy by helping evaluate, implement, and enable software tools used across the organization, with a strong focus on AI-enabled platforms such as ChatGPT and other large language model (LLM) technologies. This role provides hands-on exposure to enterprise technology operations, including how tools are assessed, tested, documented, and rolled out at scale. The Analyst plays a key role in ensuring that new capabilities—particularly rapidly evolving AI features—are evaluated thoughtfully, documented clearly, and enabled in ways that drive adoption, consistency, and long-term business value.Primary Responsibilities
  • Support the evaluation and documentation of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software used across the organization, with an emphasis on enterprise-grade, company-wide tools.
  • Conduct hands-on testing of AI-enabled platforms, including ChatGPT and other LLM-based tools, to assess features, limitations, risks, and practical business use cases.
  • Document findings, recommended use cases, constraints, and open questions in clear, structured formats for WDTech leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Assist in maintaining COTS inventories, usage guidelines, decision logs, and reference materials.
  • Support the creation of enablement materials such as FAQs, internal guides, demos, and “what’s new” summaries for new or updated tools.
  • Assist with coordinating implementation and rollout activities under the direction of the WDTech Operations team.
  • Monitor trends in enterprise software, AI models, and AI product features, and share relevant insights with the team.
  • Partner with teammates, vendors, and internal stakeholders to support tool adoption and ongoing improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, information systems, engineering, business analytics, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in technology, analytics, or AI-enabled tools preferred.
  • Hands-on experience using ChatGPT and other large language model (LLM)–based tools through coursework, academic projects, internships, or self-directed learning.
  • Experience applying AI tools to real-world problems, such as academic or capstone projects, workflow automation, analysis, or decision support.
  • Familiarity with enterprise or team-based software environments, including productivity platforms, collaboration tools, analytics tools, or automation technologies.
  • Exposure to foundational concepts related to data privacy, security, and responsible AI use in academic or professional settings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Applied understanding of large language models, including probabilistic outputs, prompt sensitivity, and common limitations such as hallucinations.
  • Experience crafting and refining prompts to achieve different outcomes (e.g., analysis, summarization, comparison, drafting).
  • Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated outputs and determine when results are reliable, incomplete, or inappropriate.
  • Awareness of data sensitivity, privacy considerations, and responsible AI use in enterprise environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess new tools and features thoughtfully.
  • Ability to document findings and explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfort working in fast-evolving technology environments where tools and features change frequently.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and follow-through.
  • Ability to show ownership of your work, take on challenges and acknowledge growth opportunities, and demonstrate patience when learning new processes
  • Courtesy, respect, and thoughtfulness in teaming with colleagues and other stakeholders
