Secondary TeamThe HarbourVest Secondary Investment Team has been a pioneer and leader in the secondary market since making its first investment in 1986. The team recently closed one of the largest secondaries funds ever raised with $15.1B of commitments (at the hard cap) for their oversubscribed Dover Street XI fund combined with a further $3.4B for secondary co-investment opportunities. When paired with other pools of secondary capital the firm manages, HarbourVest is investing over $10B of equity per year into the secondary market globally across 15-20+ transactions. While HarbourVest invests across both the GP-led and LP-led market, the firm is widely considered a leader in the rapidly expanding GP-led Continuation Fund market where the team is actively leading and structuring some of the largest transactions in the market today. Currently, there are over 60 investment professionals on the team today spread across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
Secondary Analyst ProgramHarbourVest Partners is currently seeking candidates for our 2-year analyst program in its Secondary Investment Group in Boston, MA beginning in Summer 2026. This program has been crafted to offer an unmatched breadth of investment experience that will jumpstart your career. All incoming analysts will undergo extensive training as well as robust mentorship and coaching with senior team members on our Secondary Investment team. Our analyst program provides a similar depth of training as an investment banking program, while enabling our analysts to impact long-term investment decisions directly out of their undergraduate programs. For analysts who join the program and are strong performers there will be an opportunity for promotion to HarbourVest’s Secondary Associate program.

Secondary Investment Team Analysts will gain exposure to all types of secondary transactions including the purchase of limited partnership interests in private equity funds and GP-led Continuation Fund transactions involving the purchase of one or more direct company interests. As an industry generalist, analysts will be responsible for evaluating companies across a variety of industries, including but not limited to, Technology, Healthcare, Financial Institutions, and Industrials. Secondary Investment Team Analysts will be actively involved in all phases of the investment process. Responsibilities could include:
- Evaluating new private equity secondary investment opportunities by conducting detailed due diligence on companies, researching industries and competitors, and interviewing general partners and company management
- Preparing financial models on companies, funds, and transactions and author investment committee materials as a member of deal teams
- Monitoring of existing transactions by attending general partner update calls, reviewing quarterly reporting, and staying abreast of the latest industry news
- Bachelor of Arts (B.A) or equivalent experience
- Bachelor of Science (B.S) or equivalent experience
- Finance coursework or related experience in Investment Banking or Private Equity is preferred, but not required.
- 0-2 Years of internship and/or work experience in Investments, Finance or related fields preferred but nor required
- Candidates graduating in December 2025 or Spring 2026 with 0-2 years of work experience
