Leads and supports summer day camp programs for children at YMCA Camp Chickami. Positions oversee camp operations, leadership, programming, units, waterfront activities, maintenance, and grounds while ensuring safe, engaging, and memorable experiences. Staff are expected to support youth development, member service, teamwork, and the YMCA’s mission and inclusive culture.

Lead nature-focused activities for summer day campers, including exploration, nature walks, hiking, games, and camp-wide programming. Counselors are expected to model YMCA values, support youth development, maintain a welcoming environment, and prioritize camper and member needs.

The role also helps maintain a safe, nurturing environment while following camp policies, state laws, ACA regulations, and emergency procedures.

Oversee adult summer league basketball games by enforcing IAABO and league rules, maintaining fair play, managing disputes, ensuring participant and spectator safety, recording final scores, completing incident reports, and supporting YMCA inclusion and abuse-prevention policies. The referee must attend required meetings and training and maintain sufficient physical ability to run the full court and perform lifting, carrying, crouching, and kneeling tasks.

Oversees YMCA aquatics programs and daily pool operations, recruits and supports staff and volunteers, schedules swim and water fitness activities, conducts lifeguard and swim instruction training, maintains safety and certification compliance, supports marketing and fundraising, responds to members, and helps maintain pool facilities. The role also provides lifeguarding and swim instruction as needed while promoting inclusive, member-focused service.
